Johnny Manziel, the Cleveland Browns quarterback who became known just as much for his off-the-field antics as he was for the hype surrounding him in the 2014 NFL Draft, entered a treatment facility last week.
Here's the statement released about Manziel, via Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot:
"Brad Beckworth, a friend and advisor to Manziel and his family, has confirmed that Johnny entered treatment on Wednesday. Johnny knows there are areas in which he needs to improve in order to be a better family member, friend and teammate and he thought the off-season was the right time to take this step. On behalf of Johnny and his family, we're asking for privacy until he rejoins the team in Cleveland."
The Browns have reportedly been alarmed by Manziel's partying — he's been snapped at late-night gatherings frequently and, most recently, was reportedly late for a team walkthrough and injury treatement because he was at a party the night before. ESPN's Skip Bayless called Manziel an "alcoholic" in December and was slammed for the comments.

This might be the only thing Skip Bayless has ever gotten correct.

this kid has been out of control since he was in college and all the adulation of his retarded actions and behavior.

he is an idiot, but he is an idiot kid who does not have the makeup to take care of himself at this point. and i am sure there are many many people along the road that are partly responsible.

the grown folks in his life have done him wrong, probably since they realized he was a really good football player. he appears to have never learned anything about responsibility, maturity or empathy. so hopefully he has reached a point where he can get help for his real problems. which alcohol and drugs and partying are a result of.

    Who didn't see this coming?

For all the money and fame, these players are under a lot of pressure.
Pressure to perform in the public arena.
Pressure to live up to other peoples expectations.

    I feel for the kid.
I hope he can get his shit together.

This. Does he have a drug problem that anybody knows about? The worst thing he's done is having a party. He's what 21 years old? Plenty of NFL players do and have done worse. This is a publicity stunt to show that he wants to change.

He doesn't have a problem. He just sucks at football.

True story. I don't understand why people thought what they saw would translate to the NFL.

My money says he's riding the white pony. Kinda explains the fistfight with gangsters too.

Good for Manziel. He should address this issue, if it continues to linger it will ruin any shot he has at being a long term NFL QB.

Manziel reminds me of Ryan Leaf without the size or arm strength although he's really good at networking with celebrity people that can get him into a good party. I wonder if they have a hall of fame for that.

“We’re sitting there and they keep showing Johnny on TV and Johnny and I are texting and he shoots me a text and he says, ‘I wish you guys would come get me. Hurry up and draft me because I want to be there. I want to wreck this league together.’

“When I got that text, I forwarded it to the owner and to the head coach [Mike Pettine]. I’m like ‘this guy wants to be here. He wants to be part of it.’ As soon as that happened, Mr. Haslam said, ‘pull the trigger. We’re trading up to go get this guy.”’

That whole thing just..... yeaaaa There is no way to anybody could see this coming.
