Always liked this kid + thought the Jets should have kept him. Led AAF with 14 tds, played well in 2019 preseason for Rams. Gets a chance this Sunday with Goff hurt. Hopefully he plays well + will be rooting for him. https://www.yahoo.com/news/rick-neuheisel-coached-john-wolford-030113853.html See him drop some dimes here - https://www.google.com/amp/s/theram...fl-rams-preseason-john-wolford-aaf-stats/amp/
So the question is what’s more likely, all these qbs are better than Sam and all the draft experts were so off they would be fired if they were in any other profession or Gase and his system is so bad it makes us think that could be true? I know where I land on this.
It could be all of the above, Mac sucked, drafted a bad QB then hired a terrible HC. Sam is going on his 3rd HC and 4th OC, in his 4th year in the league, he’s literally had same career path as Alex Smith had in his first 4 years in the league.
I think Sam was a better prospect than smith. But if that’s the track then all is not lost. All it takes is the right voice, the right scheme and a little help around him. The biggest issue Sam has right now, IMO, is reading defense pre snap. Some motion would help this but Gase rarely uses it. I don’t think Sam would be in the top 10-12 qbs right now but being at the bottom is fully on the scheme. The right coach has him as a serviceable qb with the same surrounding team he had this year. At 23 years old that’s not bad. Of course if they want to pull the plug and reset the qb cap hit countdown that’s understandable and I’d be ok with that too. BYU has put out some super bowl winning qbs,
