790AM The Zone is reporting that his injured groin will require surgery and he is done for the year. Not being reported anywhere else yet, but the link below is from the Falcons board where it is being discussed. Can't say that I am surprised. Good move Tannebaum....

    ----edit-----
Mods, meant to put this in the NFL forum but I guess it is somewhat Jets related. Do with it as you please. Thanks...

Now that is some really heavy news. Hope the mods dont move this thread..this belongs here.

Amazing. We were able to get a quality center that will play that position for us over the next decade.

Nobody wants to see anyone get hurt like that but history was always on the side of the Jets on this one.

I agree, but as I said it's not being reported anywhere else yet except this one radio station which I've been listening to all morning. They seem pretty convinced though. You can listen to it live if you're interested.

A lot of people were hemming and hawing over our having shipped him out. This should close the door on that noise for a good long while. It was the right move losing him, and in return for the pick we got a starting center at the beginning of his career.

If it's true I feel bad for Abraham personally, but I'm glad he's somebody else's problem/cap headache.

I am glad he is not here anymore because of what we got for him but do think about him when these teams are coming back on us in the fourth quarter and we need some QB pressure. He is an unbelievable talent when he does play.

I'm actually surprised that I'm a little surprised - Abe missing a game or three is one thing, but I certainly didn't think that this groin injury would turn into something that would put him out for the season. The Jets really dodged a bullet when they let him go - one way or another, it just seems that he can't stay on the field.

    *whew*

Glad we made the move when we did. Mangold for Abraham is looking better and better.

Thanks baamf...just listened for a few minutes..and they did say it again.

Thats a tough rumor to throw out there if not true...kind of sounds like they were positive.

They probably tried to heal it with time..and that is one tough injury (had the same injury my junior year in high school..every step you take is like someone is injecting a long needle in to the spot.)

Groin and hamstrings are tough stuff.

See ya Johnny! We absolutely did the right thing by landing Mangold, whom I am firmly convinced will be a pro-bowl caliber center in a short period of time...

I'd actually feel bad for Abe if he didn't pull the shit that he did while a Jet- i.e. not playing when we needed him most, sitting out so as to not jeopardize his big contract for this season....

WoW. I was always on Abe's side with the injury situations, but this now gives me reason to pause.

I'll echo the statements that while you never want to see someone get hurt, better Atlanta suffer than us.

So now, this week, we see that we got Mangold for a DE that can't stay healthy, and we have Coles for Moss who can't stay healthy. Either we are getting extremely lucky, or the old adage "you make your own luck" holds quite a bit of water.

Probably a little bit of both, it goes in streaks. Look at the Giants last night, they were dropping like flies. Last year we could barely keep a QB on the field. Part of it is getting guys with a history of not getting hurt, a lot of it is luck.

Good, I love this. Abe is a snot who cant stay on the field and doesnt deserve all the money he is getting, he is a player that should have a contract strictly on incentives. If he stays healthy and does good he gets paid well, if he stays off the field like everyother year, well tough luck ***hole

    Surprise, surprise, surprise...

Tannenbaum made a bunch of strong moves in the offseason, but getting Mangold for JAbe was the strongest by far.

Man this is crazy. I knew it was nagging him, but thought he'd be like 90% for the rest of the season...

But possibly done for the year? Man that's wild, i'm not going to say i'm happy for such and such a reason, which is stupid.

You can't make this up. How can a guy built like a truck be so fragile. Abraham leaving was a 5 star move for Mr. T

Between Mangold for Abraham and Washington for Edwards, Mr T. should be GM of the year!!
