I have the 5th pick in the draft and my situation has changed some since the last thread I made. Frank Gore is more than likely NOT going to be available at 5. Here is what I am hearing and expecting in tomorrows draft... 1- LT 2- Steven Jackson 3- Frank Gore 4- Larry Johnson 5- ? I tend to be indecisive all the way up until the time I am on the clock and I was trying to change that this year and actually be ready to make my pick. If you guys could give me your input I would be appreciative. The three guys I am looking at if this scenario unfolds is Shaun Alexandar, Rudi Johnson and Joe Addai. I have been high on Addai all offseason. 1300 total yards as a back up last year? I think the guy is gonna have a edgerrin james type season with alot of catches. Tarik Glenn wories me little as he was known more for his pass blocking for Peyton Manning. Shaun Alexandar scares the hell out of me, but at the same time I know what he is capable of in that offense. 1300 yards and 15 TD's is likely if he can stay healthy. No real threats at WR don't help his matter either. Rudi Johnson is considered here because I know what I am getting out of this guy. THE consistent back in the NFL...and a good one at that. So if my pick were right now I would be thinking of these three guys and probably would end up taking Addai. Good? Bad? Ugly?
I'd take Rudi, because you know what you are getting, I don't think Addai's numbers last year will translate completely since he is getting more carries because he will be gameplanned against and he will have a full season wear on him, and I agree with your idea of Alexander I don't know I'd probably also consider taking Manning
My board after 4 Addai Parker Westbrook Alexander Henry Maroney Johnson McGahee I like Johnson he?s a good Fantasy-Back but i wouldn?t pick him before pick 10. His numbers droped a little last year, and i expect them to drop a little more this year. Edit: is it a PPC league?
Actually, very very little changed in Rudi's performance. He had 4 more carries last year, the same amoutn of catches, the same amount of touchdowns, and an average of about 9 yards less a game, which isn't a very big deal IMO. Needless to say, I don't think I've seen him go before pick 9 in most mock drafts for some reason. The guy is the definition of consistency, as well as the definition of underappreciated. As for my board, it's a really tough call between Addai and Alexander. I think Addai will in fact have a great year, and put up number similar to Edge back in the day. But I also know what Alexander is capable of, and he definately was playing well once he got healthy (5 TDs and 672 yards in the last six games of the season). It's really a personal call, whether or not you think Alexander is even close to being his old self or if you like Addai's break out potential. (If it's a PPR league I'd definately be moer inclined to take Addai)
No, we don't reward a point per reception. If that were the case I would probably take Brian Westbrook or Reggie Bush.
Nobody will be gameplanning against Addai...Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne will be gameplanned against...thats always been the case. If you meant that teams will know what to expect with Addai now I don't think that makes any difference at the RB position. He got better as the season went along and was a key piece to the Super bowl win...10 catches in the Superbowl.
There is a big difference between being a change of pace back and being a workhorse, Rhodes had a lot more carries earlier in the season so your point about him being stronger as the season went on isn't really much of a point. But then again it is your team and it seems like you already made your decision. I was just bringing up another POV
I appreciate your opinion dude. Thank you. I just see 1300-1400 yards rushing 350-450 recieving yards and 10 TD's in this guys future... Dede Doresey is his backup...WHO? Addai will be the main back after touching the ball 266 times as a rookie. I think last year was a great warm up for him to become the lead back. He didn't handle the ball over 300 times last year, but when given the chance to carry the team he did admirably well for a rookie. Eagles game (24 carries over 170 yards and 4TD's), Jets Game (20 carries 84 yards and 1 TD, Miami game (24 touches over 100 total yards) Buffalo game (20 touches over 120 total yards and TD) He can carry the load because he has done it. He is a risk, but it's a well calculated risk. I have been breaking down stats for a few weeks now.
my top 15 fantasy RBs and believe me, im a fantasy GOD 1) LT 2) Stephen Jackson 3) Joseph Addai 4) LJ (if this contract is done) 5) Willie Parker 6) Gore 7) Travis Henry (huuuuge year in Denver) 8) Alexander 9) Rudi Johnson 10) Willis McGahee (watch out) 11) Westbrook 12) Maroney 13) Reggie Bush 14) Cedric Benson (who can't carry the load in Chicago right now 15) Ronnie Brown thats all i got but trust me, I'm a fantasy God, so believe me
ON YOUR KNEES! ALL HAIL THE FANTASY GOD! LISTEN TO EVERYTHING HE SAYS! NO EXPLANATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR ANYTHING! REMEMBER, HE IS A GOD! Once I saw Parker at #5 I stopped giving a shit about your list. The Steelers are going to a spread/4-wide offense and are going to be passing the ball MUCH more than last season, which means reduced numbers for Parker. Plus, they brought in Kevan Barlow (I know, he sucks, but is gold within the 7 yard line) to take away many of Parker's scoring oppurtunities. I would be the happiest man in the draft if I took Alexander as the 8th running back. Since your a GOD, you probably already know this information, but you might want to check these numbers out: http://nfl.com/players/playerpage/187382 The guy gets hurt one year and everybody is passing him up. Just check out his numbers from the previous five years then tell me why he's no good.
