yeah, I just heard about this one. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/10/18/torre.thursday/
Disrespecting? Explain. The highest paid manager in baseball now that he isn't makes 3.5 million and that's Pinella. Where is the disrespect? Because he actually would have had to earn the other 3 million?...lol
as I posted in the other thread, offering the guy a one year contract at a PAY CUT from his current salary..is low balling, and disrespectful...at least they offered him the opportunity to walk away on his own as opposed to getting fired..i'll give them that
The disrespect is that it is basically a one year deal. They are setting him up for another season like this one where he is constantly barraged with questions about whether he is going to fired. That contract is a joke and the Yankees management should be ashamed that they couldn't just give him the contract that he deserves. They found a cop out where they could offer Torre a contract they knew he wouldn't accept.
Walter Alston worked for the Dodgers for over 20 years with one year contracts each year. Since when should people that haven't done the job get rewarded with multi-year deals? You guys are just plain insane.
yeah ok, don't know what you do for a living or how old you are.....but you certainly don't have a bright future as any sort of negotiator ahead of you
Hasn't anyone considered that, as a condition for resigning, Boras demended that A-Rod also be named manager? Thus, the lowball offer. Think about it, people.
He deserved a pay cut. Where is the disrespect? He could have made more then this year if he did his job and won.
What does negotiating have to do with it? They offered him an incentive based contract. Where is the problem? Oh, wait..I see..he would have had to perform...you're right, that would have been a problem.
whatever man, you seem to not be all that bright so I 'll save myself the back and forth the Yankees basically didn't have the balls to just fire him for fear of Pubic relations backlash, so they came up with a farce of a deal they knew he would reject....any logical person can see right through that you willing to take a pay cut at your job? does that make you feel that managment really wants you......negotiating has everything to do with it, if you can find a sucker, screw him......Joe's no sucker performance?, the guy won 4 titles and got to the playoffs 12 years in a row.... he deserved better treatment
There is no sarcasm in that. He was paid more then TWICE what any other manager in baseball was paid this year. He was paid that to win and he didn't. He could have made more next year then he did this year if he won. He decided he didn't want it. Fine. If he goes to get another job the most he will be offered is 3 million. There is no disrespect in there anywhere.
They didn't want him. Everybody knows that. They gave him another chance anyway. So you think he should have gotten a raise? Who is the one not very bright here.
As a Yankee hater I applaud this decision. Buh bye Posada, Buh bye Mariano. Hello Arod, your new Player/Manager/CEO of the Yes Network.
