Unfortunately he is probably right. It depends on if winning superceeds everything else, then the Jets will still be in the story.
Unless Manning wants to be the savior that finally wins the NYJETS a Super Bowl just to prove how good he really is. Maybe Joe is baiting him.
Obviously this would be only one of the reasons. Watching how the premiere receiver and QB pouted after getting ousted by the Fins, LT pretty much inches short of writing a tell-all book about behind the scene issues, Rex being Rex and Tanny saying players/coaches will remain with the team or in a starting role then giving them axe or demoting them could be other reasons that he wants to stay away from NY.
But winning another superbowl so he stays on pace with his brother overwhelms all of those and other than the Jets the only other place that would be a strong possibility is Houston and they don't seem all that interested.
How interested were the Eagles in Asomugha the entire 2011 offseason right up until the moment it was announced they had signed him?
does this guy ever shut up. if we really want Peyton and could afford to pay him the most money he'd come here despite the overblown LR problems.
Why only the Jets and Texans give him the best chance to win a Super Bowl? Elite Receiver - Texans, Dolphins Offensive Line - Texans, Dolphins, Jets? Defense - Texans, Jets, Dolphins Good Running Game - Texans, Dolphins Playmakers on Offense- Texans, Dolphins Coaching - Jets, Texans, Dolphins? Locker room Leaders - Texans, Dolphins Looks like Peyton would be a great fit in Miami considering the pieces they have available and the high draft pick. Literally adding a healthy and motivated Peyton Manning could possibly put them in a better place than the Jets considering what they have in place at the moment. After free agency the gap could get wider.
Oh, do the Eagles want Manning now too? Last I heard Houston is still trying to lock up Schaub unless that has changed.
Shonn Greene is better than reggie Bush as a runner so if you include Bush for good run game you have to include us. The jets also have playmakers on offense. As goo of a WR as Marshall is he isn't a playmaker, he's a possession WR. what LR leaders in Miami? the kind that led them to ab 0-7 start and 6-10 season? Dolphins under coaching? why b/c Aaron Rodgers was great and McCarthy called plays? Miami has a big WR target, a mediocre OL(great LT though) and decent defense.
The Dolphins defense is not good enough to get them to the superbowl..not even close. Not to mention all new coaches and all new schemes and no team masters that in its first year. I'm not saying he won't end up there but I'm saying if he does he won't find himself in a SB this year or next year.
Shonn Greene is better than reggie Bush as a runner so if you include Bush for good run game you have to include us. Reggie got more yards, higher avg, more touchdowns, more receptions and more rushes over 20 and 40 yards in less games played. This can be disputed. The jets also have playmakers on offense. As goo of a WR as Marshall is he isn't a playmaker, he's a possession WR. This can also be disputed. I thought Holmes was a playmaker but catching less balls than the fins 3rd WR and acting like a baby in a big time game loss him alot of respect. what LR leaders in Miami? the kind that led them to ab 0-7 start and 6-10 season? With a lousy QB, it's not much you could do I suppose. I'm sure alot of Jet fans can empathize. Dolphins under coaching? why b/c Aaron Rodgers was great and McCarthy called plays? Thats why I added a question mark. It remains to be seen.
Are you daft? Yes, that was rhetorical. Houston can play the game face and let the field set the price range, and decide if they want to swoop in and steal Manning. They have the best team to compliment Peyton, they play in a familiar and much weaker division, they play in a dome, they have arguably the best receiver and one of the best rushers and a solid offensive line, and also arguably the best defense in the league. If Houston wants to sit back and hold their cards close and look uninterested, and let dipshit organizations like the Jets and Cardinals and Dolphins romance Peyton to set the price, all they have to do is throw their hat into the ring at the eleventh hour and he'd be putty in their hands. Plus, he'd get to stick it to Irsay twice a year, and the young firecracker they chose to replace him. He'd he'd be nice and toasty warm, without having to wear a faggoty orange and teal uniform. If Houston was so sold on Shaub, they would have him locked up tight already.
I agree with Don. The bigger question is, do the Jets want Peyton Manning? Do we really need a QB with 4 neck surgeries, the last of which fused two vertibrae together to eliminate the pain? Does anyone know what that does? Forget about mobility in that area. And forget about durability. This guy is one hit away from a stretcher. And then we're back to Sanchez after all. Seriously. Pass on this guy even if he wants us.
I agree with "Section 226, Row 5" to an extent, but every player is one hit away from a stretcher. I've read that his neck should be stronger after the surgeries and I'm sure the one person that knows if they can still play would be Peyton. His track record has proven him to be one of the best QB's to ever play the game of Football, so I wouldn't throw out his body of work just because he's had surgeries. I guess you have to take a wait and see approach with this issue. For the record, a healthy Peyton makes most NFL qb's look like rookies, but would you really want to continue to dog Sanchez? His offseason has been rocky thus far with teammates bad mouthing him, no reason to even sniff around Peyton if you believe Sanchez is the future, but this isn't the case with the Jets front office. They are inquiring about Peyton for good reason. He was elite before the injury and could potentially return to form simple and plain.
I was also being facetious. I really don't think Houston is interested but they would be by far his best option if they are. If not then it has to be the Jets if he really wants to win again before he is done. Arizona even with him will not be better that San Francisco and that's their own division. Forget getting past the NFC East. His best chance is in the AFC where he at least knows the teams and that limits him to Houston and the Jets. Houston is good and the Jets were formidable for two years before Sanchez turned to shit.
