I agree with this to some extent but only because the Jets simply do not have any premier players on the roster. And honestly although this year's draft was great i still don't see any truly great players out of the bunch? Any team that's going to win the SB needs at least 2 to 3 truly great players and i believe that's what JD is going to realize.

People forget Allen took John Brown and Cole Beasley to the playoffs before they even acquired Diggs. Corey Davis & Jamison Crowder are BETTER than Brown & Beasley.

the weapons are fine, the QB just has to get better

The length some of you are willing to go for a #1 receiver this season is insane. That is something you would do when you already have a solid team. I mean, 2 firsts for Jefferson? You want Adams, a guy who will probably sign for about 18 million a year? (Adams is so great because of the amazing chemistry he has with Rodgers. He wont have that here!) You're willingly campaigning to make the same mistakes previous GMs have made.

That's not where we are in our rebuild. Were never going to build a winning team by signing expensive FAs at skill positions or trading multiple firsts for a player. The time for getting a great WR passed last season, when they were everywhere and cheap, and we did get Moore. We can wait no longer to build out our core of big guys. We can wait no longer to fill the gaping holes on the roster, where WR ranks pretty low.

Thing is in todays NFL you can get IOL that are marginally the same player unless it’s a stud like Nelson or Martin that don’t come around too often.

There are so many holes I completely agree. WR #1 is a huge one in my opinion. Garrett Wilson is a really good prospect. Edge/QB/WR are the 3 main positions to succeed. Without those 3 positions stacked your finished. Personally if we could grab edge with #4 and Wilson with #10 we are in good shape in the first round. Maybe if Ford falls in the 3rd then we really got something cooking.

No to 2 firsts for Jefferson or Adams on what his price tag will likely be.

Part of what makes Adams great is definitely that rapport with Rodgers, but don’t overvalue it. He’s big, strong and is the best receiver off the snap at the LOS in the league.

I just no longer believe in free agent receivers for the most part. You’re a bit too rigid about your “where we are in the rebuild” stuff though. There’s no blueprint. It happens a whole bunch of different ways.

In terms of starting players, JD is going to have to use FA to fill all the holes. In no order:

    1) WR
    2) TE
    3) FB
    4) OL
    5) RB

The fact is there's just too many holes right now. If Joe can add all of the above, then i think the Jets will have a finished offense....

How many times did Zach get sacked vs. Buffalo?. From what I have seen this year we need the first 5 picks to be LT, C, RT, RG, and RT. Free agent WR and TE. Next year - all defense. We need like 12 picks in this draft to be competitive - free agents not withstanding.

He's not going to be able to fill all those holes in FA, not well, anyway. Money goes quickly in FA. In addition, there aren't a lot of great options in FA at WR, OL and FB. He's going to have to use FA and the draft in order to try to get quality starters and some playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Most people want to see their QB succeed. Take a look at what Murray looks like without Hopkins.

We do not need a LT or C. That's just nuts. You also have RT listed twice. At least try to be accurate.

Let's take a quick look at where the receiving yardage leaders were taken:

    (1) Cooper Kupp: Round 3 (Pick #69)
    (2) Justin Jefferson: Round 1 (Pick #22)
    (3) Davonte Adams: Round 2 (Pick #53)
    (4) Ja'Marr Chase: Round 1 (Pick #5)
    (5) Deebow Samuel: Round 2 (Pick #36)
    (6) Mark Andrews (TE): Round 3 (Pick #86)
    (7) Tyreek Hill: Round 5 (Pick #165, dropped b/c DV charges)
    (8) Stefon Diggs: Round 5 (Pick #146)
    (9) Tyler Lockett Round 3 (Pick #69)
    (10) Diontae Johnson: Round 3 (Pick #66)

I could go on but the point is a 2nd round pick on a WR is still a VERY premium pick at WR. IMO the 2-3 round is a sweet spot for the position. And for TE in many years a 2nd can get the top prospect at the position. We could totally ignore offense in the 1st round but if we get a free agent like Dalton Schultz, draft a WR with one of the 2nds, and take a TE in the 3rd, we have massively upgraded the talent Zach has to work with at the skill positions.

This is true if we can get Schultz and then draft another TE before the 4th round. One of our weakest rooms becomes a good one with Kroft and Yeboah as the 3/4th

It's very rare that a great player reaches full potential in their rookie year. Thus, we don't know who will be great among the current rookies and even 2nd year players.
