Sucks how these things play out. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-torn-acl-jimmy-garoppolo-san-francisco-49ers Think San Fran tries to work out something for Tyrod?
Ugggh I HATE this. And I'm not even a Jimmy G fan but I love football and I love watching good up-and-coming QBs. Dammit. The product suffers so much when this stuff happens.
Football isn't baseball where a team can trade for a player then have him hit the ground running. Also teams tend to jack up the price when they know a team is desperate see the Vikes trading away a first round pick for the awful Sam Bradford a few years ago. Sometime you just have to accept your fate.
I wouldn't have thought that they would have offered a 1st or 2nd round pick for Bridgewater for a 10 or 11 game rental when they'd have no shot at the division (the Rams are clearly much much better and they're already 2 games behind them), but we'll never know.
here we go, you are exactly right. They couldn't started Bridgewater, been 2-1 or 3-0 right now and with the 49ers so desperate they could've flipped Bridgewater for something big!
Funny you say this about a replacement for Jimmy G.... the QB who was acquired in the middle of a 1-10 season, and promptly won every game he started for the rest of season. I would say he hit the ground running.
Do you also say the Pats jacked up the price for a seldom used backup QB who got injured in his very limited playing time with them? I didn't see it with Garoppolo. I thought they badly overpaid. I admit I was VERY surprised the 49ers went 5-0 with him last season I was just as surprised by Jimmy G mania I took a wait & see approach.
