According to Jenny Vrentas on Twitter.. JennyVrentas Jets appear to be working out outside LB Shawn Crable in the fieldhouse. #nyj 9 minutes ago via ĆberTwitter Guess they are searching everywhere for a young OLB option
Crable's a pretty good player. I was surprised to see the Gaytriots release him. I doubt he'll stick around. I think the staff will probably bring him in to pick his brain about New England's blitzes.
Just posted this in twitter thread, but.. I liked Crable (3-4 OLB) coming out of Michigan in 2009=8 until he unfortunately got drafted by the Pats. He's spent a lot of time on the Pats over the past 2 years but has injury problems, I'm pretty sure he was IR'd. Pats just cut him a few days ago again.
I was hoping we did this... imo he could be a decent OLB project and he's a very valuable ST. Plus Mauga is injured again -.-"
He was good in college, 3rd round pick in '08. Has 0.5 career sacks, so he's ahead of Gholston at least. Maybe Rex sees something in him, who knows.
With his injury problems he never really got a chance to show if he could succeed. It would be nice to have the luxury of bringing him in but who would they cut to open a spot?
Where are you guys getting that he's a good special teams player? I've watched every Pats game he's every played and he was crap at special teams; the reporting in New England is that he got cut in no small part because he can't play ST well.
I assume thats his dad. bob crable was drafted in 82 by the jets and i remember him seeing the field occasionally in the 1st couple years - behind mehl and buttle. think he got hurt alot and saw him again in 85-86 but not after that. jil
I guess it's safe to expect something like 19-20 tackles, 4-5 sacks, a few picks, 7-8 passes defenses, a couple blocked kicks/punts. Not every day, but on average.
Crable had the hairline of a 40-year old and the skin of 15 year old. he also had the knee of an 80-year old, if I remember correctly
