I guess the coaching staff doesn't have as much confidence in our QBs as they say. We worked out Sanchez, Freeman, and now Bomar

Rhett Bomar was the #1 recruit coming out of HS when he came out. He was originally at Oklahoma for his freshman year and performed very well when asked to start (I believe he was 8-3), but some off the field incidents led to his dismissal from the team. I believe he accepted money from a no-show job at a car dealership or something. Anyway, he ended up at Sam Houston state and did pretty damn well there. He's known for having somewhat of a gunslinger mentality who takes a lot of risks, but he's got a really strong arm and solid mechanics.

I'd take a flier on him in the third or fourth if he's available. I personally think he's the third best QB prospect in this class behind Stafford and Sanchez. Apparently he's really matured over the past few years and any immaturities that he had were left at Oklahoma.

EDIT: Here's a good video about his incident while at OU:

Even if we took a qb early...clemens or ratliff will start this season
But given that ainge was a late pick last season and not rex's guy...it seems like rex is looking to groom a future qb but I think its likely a 4th through 7th to compete with ainge

I Like Bomar, Good QB instincts and a big arm. I wouldn't mind him in the 2nd/3rd round.

Anybody who really believes the Jets are happy with their current QBs is a complete idiot.

thats the organization doing it's homework before the draft, its not them having a lack of confidence in their QB core.

The only thing is if, I mean if, he ever started at QB and started playing badly people would have an easy field day with his last name.

NOOOOOO, don't draft another QB with lots of potential. Than I will have to endure all the "Start Rhett Bomar" threads for the next year plus. He will be next year's Brett Ratliff.

I'd be happy with Bomar in the 3rd, maybe the 2nd depending on who else is there. Really though, I just don't see the point in bringing in another young unproven QB.

He looks pretty good throwing the ball. The Jets had another nice QB from a small school if I recall. In fact, he's the second best QB they ever had.

Hes a kid who got caught doing what many others are doing. Hes a strong armed QB with some guts. Id take a shot in the 3rd round on a future star.

if he's listed as a 2nd day QB, why does everyone want him in the 2nd or 3rd??

The fourth round, late fourth round at the highest.

    read the article.

In this draft, 3rd round = second day. Same with last year.
