At the beginning of the season I thought this was going to be a major need for us because I was unsure if Coles was going to regain his magic with Pennington and obviously didn't know Cotchery was going to step up so much and Smith was going to show so much promise. That said, I still wouldn't mind drafting a WR high this year, but only if he has some good height. The main problem with our passing game is we still don't have a jump ball specialist.

Obviously everyone is enamored with Calvin Johnson and seeing as he will probably be a top 3 pick, we have little to now chance at getting him. Sidney Rice and Dwayne Jarrett were good prospects at the beginning of the year but have tailed off do to inconsistent play by their QBs.

One guy I'm really high on is Mario Urrutia from Louisville. Unfortunately he is only a sophomore, but the kid is 6'6" and is just the man out there going deep and going up to get the balls. I think he might be the Calvin Johnson of '07.
Another guy I love is Josh Morgan (see my avatar ). He is a junior and won't declare this year, but should be a guy who we could get in the mid rounds a la Ernest Wilford 2 (?) years ago. He is easily the best WR in a loaded group at VT.

Dallas Baker has impressed me a lot this year as a big target as well.

Mario Urrutia looks like a nice prospect too bad he's only a sophmore, if we could get a wr in the 4th or 5th itd be nice but only a tall prospect like Matt Trannon who plays for Michigan State.

I like Steve Smith . Seems to play alot bigger than his 6' and is as tough as nails. Runs routes well and can improvise when the play breaks down. I've yet to see any downside to him and will definatley be drafted , maybe as high as early 3rd round.

He doesn't have Coles's speed but he could slip through the cracks like Keary Colbert.

No he doesn't and I would say his speed is average at best , but he makes up for that with precise routes. I will be interested to see what his vertical is he seems to climb.

Depth would help. But I think we're OKAY with our WR corps, on a large part because of Cotchery standing out this season. We have Brad Smith, who we don't use effectively, but we know his atleticism and what he can do. McCareins (IF he's still with us next year), has the size and decent speed to make plays. Tim Dwight adds depth.
We're good for the most part, but a tall receiver would help. Hopefully we can grab a WR in the late rounds and produce like Colston lol.

No way we need a WR in the first/second round. Coles and Cotchery are an excellent tandem. If we take a WR, it should be a tall guy in the middle rounds.

That Harline dude at TE for BYU was out of this world in his bowl game. Could be a steal in the middle of the draft.

I also think think we could use a burner someone like Chansey stuckey or Paul Williams defenitely wouldnt mind us picking two wideouts on Day 2 a burner and a tall dude.I just see Brad smith more as a kordell stewart type rather than a hines ward, antwann randle el type Brad Smith never played wr in college those other guys did.

I want a 6'4 WR but those guys can be picked up in the middle rounds. It'd be nice in the red zone.
