The Jets have agreed to terms on a trade with the Indianapolis Colts, acquiring CB Nate Hairston, pending a physical. In exchange, the Green & White will send their second 2020 sixth-round pick to Indy.

Originally a fifth-round pick of the Colts in 2017, Hairston played in 27 games (11 starts) and totaled 59 tackles, one interception and six pass defenses. Last season, the Temple product started seven games for Indianapolis while collecting 24 tackles and one PD.

The Green & White acquired a second 2020 sixth-round pick in May in exchange for LB Darron Lee from Kansas City.

He's a guy with NFL experience and he's young. I guess the Jets weren't impressed with Brown, Maulet and Campbell as depth...

He's a depth piece, about as good as Brian Poole. Maybe the Jets see something in him, but I'm not sure how much this trade helps us.

    I think you’re underestimating pool.

27 games and 1 pick. Obviously the league knows who he is and doesn’t throw at him.

    Im fine with this--

Low risk move, bring in a young player from a good program with starting experience. Build depth.

This was the type of move I was saying would happen in another thread....rather than big splashy ones for premium picks

And it's reported that the 6th is s the lower pick we got from KC, not ours.

So basically we traded Lee for a CB

Colts 2018 player review: CB Nate Hairston

By: Kevin Hickey | March 4, 2019 1:00 pm ET

As the 2018 season moved along into the second half, a name in the Indianapolis Colts secondary that fell by the wayside was cornerback Nate Hairston.

A 2017 fifth-round pick that had a solid rookie campaign, Hairston started out the season as one of the cornerbacks heavily in the rotation for the secondary. However, he rarely saw any playing time during the second half.

Hairston wound up playing 13 games (seven starts) while recording 30 tackles (25 solo) and just one pass defended without an interception.

Hairston was heavily in the rotation throughout the first half of the season. In five of the first six games, Hairston played at least 98.2 percent of the defensive snaps. He missed Week 5 against the New England Patriots due to injury.

He seemed to be well on his way to securing a major role in the defense. However, he was benched in during the Week 8 game against the Oakland Raiders after a coverage breakdown led to a touchdown.

After that Hairston was basically nowhere to be found. Over the second half of the season, the Temple product didn’t see more than six snaps on the defensive side of the ball in any game.

While Hairston saw little time playing in the second half, the Colts defense took off and fellow second-year cornerback Quincy Wilson took over as the CB3 behind Kenny Moore and Pierre Desir.

It isn’t clear what the whole story was with Hairston’s benching, but the fact that he rarely saw any playing time in the second half suggests he has a lot to prove in Year 3.

Our pick could be lower than the chiefs

This likely means the end of Nickerson. Hairrson seems to offer some versatility being able to backup Poole and work the outside.

I'm not calling you a liar, but how the hell do you know how good Nate Hairston is? I doubt any Jets fan even knew who this guy was less than a few hours ago.

Being that he was a 7th round pick and the colts traded him for a 6th, common sense tells you he's not a game changer. But let's quit acting like what know what kind of player he is. We have no idea.

    Low risk??
It might be a miracle if he even passes his physical let alone contributes on a semi regular basis.. If this guy were a car, we'd call him a hoopty.
