Actually 28...will be 29 in October (not trying to be a wise ass) He seems pretty old to have only played in the league for 4 years...
This WILL get done. Young, knows Mangini, and set up a meeting the same day, not like next week or anything.
That was what I would call a Herman Edwards draft pick... Herman Edwards: "Huh...says here this guy saved two puppies and a woman from a burning building...Let's draft him...its about the will! Not the Skill!" Terry Bradway: "Herm, he is 26 years old, hasn't played football in a year, and isn't projected to go until round 5-6. Are you sure you want this guy?" Herman Edwards: "Oh I am absolutely sure. It's like I always said, the chicken didn't cross the road 'til he was ready. He packed his bags and kissed he's Mom on the cheek. Then he crossed that road. I am that chicken now."
A word of caution: Tom Ashworth never has been and never will be anything spectacular. Nor Matt Chatham, for that matter. I hope we don't put a premium on mediocre players simply because they are former Patriots.
Chatham seems to be a backup/special teamer from looking at his stats... Tom was a starter on the oline for a playoff team...thats all I need to hear.
Ashworth would be decent...I would prefer someone with a little more room to grow, but he would do good.
Yes, Chatham is nothing more than a special teams player. Ashworth was only the starter because of injuries. My point - we ought not get all whooped-up giddy just because they were Patriots.
There's nothing really wrong with Ashworth as far as I'm concerned, but if we're going to rebuild the line, why not just go whole hog on it - and draft an entire line (to fill in around Jones and Moore)
