I wonder if a deal for Edwards is in the works.

I was just about to type tender the shit out of Holmes in the other thread.

If someone wants to pay a 1st and 3rd, I'd take it though.

There isn't much possibility those guys will be RFAs but I guess the Jets thought at best those tags actually count, at worst they don't and they'd be in the same position as if they hadn't tagged them.

    Nothing to lose really...

I dont understand the tenders exactly. Can somebody explain this scenario?

Say the 49ers offer the Jets a 1st & 3rd "tender?" for Holmes. What do we do exactly, or what happens?

Y'all know that there's a very good chance these RFA tenders end up meaning nothing, right? Most of these players are going into their sixth years and it's unlikely (not certain but unlikely) that they'll be RFAs under any new CBA.

    It doesn't work like that...

The 9ers can work on a deal with Holmes and if they sign him the Jets get their 1st and 3rd. The Jets have a chance to match any deal offered to Holmes though.

The 1st and a 3rd is essentially a huge cock block for other teams.

    My understanding.

Why would they even bother then? Seems silly.

ah i get it. wow so if somebody wants to give us a 1st, and 3rd we would basically be robbing somebody. if we couldnt match the deal, i would use the pick and grab julio jones asap.(if it were holmes)

Well if the Jets can make Holmes a RFA in the new CBA, which is really unlikely, what would happen is that any team that wanted to give Holmes a contract offer could, the Jets would have a set period of time to match the contract, and if they don't Holmes goes to the new team and the Jets get a first and a third.

Precisely, I dunno about getting Julio though, you'd need a top 11 pick for that.

The first & 3rd is out of the question for Cromartie but it's possible for Holmes.

I would let Holmes walk for the 1st and 3rd because of his other strikes.

Then I'd look a Sidney Rice...see if his hip healed up. Jets can sign a Tier 1 FA if they lose one.

The Jets tried tendering Drew Coleman with an 8th round pick, but were told that there are only 7 rounds.

Welcome to what I've been postulating for the past couple of months...although, I'm guessing this isn't the first you've thought of it.

Because there's a (1? 5? 10?) percent chance that teams do get to control players for six years in the new CBA and it costs you nothing to do it.

The Jets tendered Coleman with a 3rd round tender (we give you a 3rd rounder if you sign him)
