The Jets have taken a Band-Aid approach to fixing their depleted offensive line. Desperate for a couple of warm bodies with starting experience, they signed C Trey Teague (Bills) and RT Anthony Clement (49ers), both of whom are strictly stop-gap players. Teague, who replaces Kevin Mawae, is an intelligent player who can move and slide. He's a better pass protector than run blocker. He doesn't have the power or bulk to be a dominant interior lineman, but he should be serviceable for one season. Clement (6-8, 338) is a massive player, better suited to the power game. He's not particularly agile and will struggle against speedy pass rushers. The Jets didn't spend much on either player; they will complement these signings by focusing on the line in the draft ? One of the most interesting battles in camp will be at cornerback. The Jets have three players with starting experience -- David Barrett, Justin Miller and recently-signed Andre Dyson (Seahawks), who almost certainly will start on one side. Miller could get the nod over Barrett, who demonstrated at the end of last season that he can play inside against slot receivers. The forgotten man is Derrick Strait, a former third-round pick who hasn't lived up to expectations. . . . By signing Matt Chatham (Patriots) and Brad Kassel (Titans), the Jets added two smart, versatile players who can fill out the depth chart and allow them to play a 3-4 defense. Kassel could push for playing time inside, next to Jonathan Vilma. New coach Eric Mangini has adopted the philosophy of his mentor, Bill Belichick: You can never have too many linebackers.

SCOUTING REPORT: OT Adrian Jones is a valuable player because he can start at both tackle positions. Athletically, he's better on the left side, where he finished last season, because he possesses above-average agility. Thing is, he struggled at times, taking wide pass sets to cut off the outside rush, leaving himself vulnerable to inside moves. If the Jets draft Virginia's D'Brickashaw Ferguson in the first round, Jones might move back to the right side. But, at 6-4, 296, he's too small to be an effective strong-side blocker. Basically, he's a tweener.

STOCK RISING: Unless they sign a veteran fullback in the second wave of free agency, B.J. Askew will be the starting fullback. The release of longtime starter Jerald Sowell opened the door for Askew, a multi-talented player who stewed on the bench. Askew can be effective, depending on how they use him. If new coordinator Brian Schottenheimer asks Askew to be Lorenzo Neal, whom he coached in San Diego, forget about it. Askew isn't a thumper. He's an average blocker, but he can catch the ball and run with some halfback skills. This is a make-or-break season for Askew.

I wrote the same thing about adrian jones in a thread recently, can't remember the thread though.

The fact that he is not strong enough for the right side, and is prone to inside moves.

According to that report it seems that Jones is serviceable at both tackle spots but not a stud. Not sure if D'Brick will be a stud either but this team needs some talent on the offensive front. I hope the oline is the focus of this draft. Maybe go defense with one or two of the top three picks but from then it should be BOLA.
