We're not going RT on Day 1, unless of course some monster drops and it's impossible to pass him up. Too many other pressing needs, like OG, DT, CB and OLB.

We are going to have one huge DE battle in Training Camp with all these bodies were bringing in. We def must not be planning on drafting a DE.

Cimini made a couple of good points: that Tuiasosopo is no real competition for Clemens and that Clements is just a journeyman at best at RT. We'll find out pretty quickly if Clemens is going to make it in the NFL or if his next chance is as a retread at 27. It's an interesting decision the Jets have made here. I'm not sure I completely understand it, however it's possible that the Jets will also take a QB that drops to them on day two and actually use him as the #3, grooming two QB's at the same time.

Tannenbaum wants all his ducks in a row before the draft so the Jets can go BPA on each pick. That makes sense, but signing a Tuiasosopo does not mean the Jets QB ducks are in a row.

You know, the Jets may think Blalock can play RT. Or maybe they consider him the future at OG, but immediate competition at RT. Cimini may be right without even knowing it.

  6. To me, Tuiasosopo is the clearcut # 3. He certainly isn't a great back-up but was a # 2 in Oakland and saw a decent amount of PT. Therefore I see this as a decent cheap move. To me Clemens is the # 2 no questions asked..as this slow progression is necessary for his possible ascendance into a starting role.

wouldn't surprise me if they take OT joe staley with the 25th pick. the guy is a solid RT.

Why does he think Tui will compete with Clemens? The Jets have done everything to suggest that Clemens will compete again with Chad for the starting spot. Mangini has consistently refused to name CHad the long term starter, and his statement that "Chad is the starter going into camp" has been consistently misread by the media as Chad is the starter on opening say. I think the Jets are very high on Kellen and expect the starting role to be his by years end.

If Staley's there, I'd strongly consider it. If Staley's there, there's a good chance that he's the best value there and it makes sense from a need standpoint as well. I think we could still grab Beekman or Ramirez in the 2nd and they wouldn't be as big of a drop off from Blaylock as the dropoff is from Staley to the next tackle.
