Jets' still weak up the middle. DT's needed. Have yet to see Jets' address DT need whether verbally or actually. When you look over Jets' depth chart...
You will notice secondary is also weak.

I feel Jets' will draft defense with the #1 pick {Haloti Ngata.....DT....Univ. of Oregon}which will be the player to anchor the 3-4 defense......Even though we all know that offense is there greatest weakness, with the pick they get from the John Abraham trade, they will draft offense. Sometimes strengthen the strongest part ? Offense will be addressed with other picks. Though it still remains to be seen who else they sign in free agency.

AJ Hawk could be coming for the 3-4 at LB.

Any word on Sam Adams? I think he would be a good short-term solution to help the transfer to the 3-4.

If any of you guys caught Cimini's chat on JN last week, he killed Piouha, killed him. Said he "played like a 47 year old."

I feel that also is a strong possibility. He is a good, hard player. PLus N.E. liked White LB's, so Mangini might go that way. I believe N.E. probally had the most White LB's in the league & it works for them. They prefer the cerebral player that fits in a system. Its was all about the system in N.E.
And if it works for the Jets', I'm with it.

Jets' are so weak in middle...I would sign Sam Adams {though he never wants to sign with Jets' & he's had a few chances} & still draft a DT #1. They need depth & quality depth at DT.

I honestly would love to have hawk on the team. But what does white have to with???? why would color have anything to do with it?? That statement just shows a simple mind.

    Gabe Watson at #31?

As good as Ngata at half the price. Also, would still allow us to get a great prospect, either D'Brick, Vernon or Mario.

Ngata is my choice for the draft. No player in this draft, or in any in recent memory...is the kind of DISRUPTIVE FORCE in the middle the Jets need to make the 3-4 go.

Remember when I bitched that we took Santana Moss instead of Casey Hampton anyone???

Ngata is the kind of player who will make everyone around him better. He'll take up 2-3 blockers on every play, giving Ellis room to move and freeing up Vilma to make plays laterally.

I for one sure hope we take this guy!

I so want Sam Adams. He's the best of the fat guys that are perfect for the 3-4.

Good call !!! This kid really has all the potential in the world, just a matter of whether or not he wants it. Notoriously lazy, and needs to have a coach be on him all of the time; I'm sure Denny Marcin can take care of him. Should be interesting to see where this kid goes, can't see him dropping out of the first round though...

The Jets cannot afford to waste their #1 on a DT. That is not to say we don't need some bigger bodies on defense, because we certainly do. Jets will draft offense, and HOPEFULLY pick up Sam Adams for 2 years or so.

Dude, cerebral and white, I think you should rephrase that, I hope it just came out wrong,

I agree that system players will work well with Mangini's coaching, regardless of colour

Gabe Watson - all the scouts say he's a risk b/c he takes a lot of plays off. We already have one lazy DT - DRob.

Hey...I knew I'd get feedback from mentioning race, but.....hey!!! Were all big boys & don't have to get hung up on the point. In looking at N.E., they appear to have quite a few impact players white players. The NFL is mostly Black....in case you haven't noticed ?
But the post isn't about race...so lets not get caught there please. Athletes with less than superior speed & athletic ability, must use guile & strength to keep the playing field equal.

I don't think I have ever heard of anyone being blocked by three people...that's almost ridiculous.

That's like saying Ngata would be blocked by a Center and a guard (which would be normal), but then you are saying a RB would come in and block him as well? How do you even block someone with three people?

Agree. Unless the Jets get an absolute monster at DT/NT, this is defense is a no-go.

Ive discussed the same option of drafting Watson..........alot of people have him in the 2nd round but i think due to sheer size (much like Max Jean Gilles) he will be off the board come 2nd round.
