In Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, Kroft filled in for injured starter Dawson Knox, catching four passes for 24 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score from Josh Allen as Buffalo won 35–32.[24] Kroft was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list by the team on November 14, 2020,[25] and activated on November 19.[26] He was placed back on the COVID-19 list on January 2, 2021,[27] and activated again two days later.[28] Looks like when given the reps he did ok. https://www.nfl.com/players/tyler-kroft/stats/ That may spell the end for Griffin, although Griffin may be a better receiver. You gotta like Kroft's 6'6" height.
I always liked Kroft. Thought he should have played over Knox last year. He’s not spectacular or anything, but he’s solid/average. Definitely better than any other TE the jets have, for now at least.
He's going to be a run blocker, that's about it. And that's perfectly fine. Line him up next to Becton with Davis or Mims split out and send the RB over their way.
We've tried so many "receiving" tightends both retread and draft picks over the past decade that I'm glad we're adding a blocker even if he's limited. We haven't had a tightend that can block since Anthony Becht.
It really feels like we are building a ground and pound type scheme. Do we know the contract we offered Kroft?
