they all get extra paydays in their 4th years like Powell, Davis and Allen got if they play 35 percent of snaps. I think it doubles their base salary or something.
Redshirting a year would probably ensure that Petty doesn't get there. If he pans out at least we'll have our starting QB on the cheap for 3 years. Not like we're gonna find anyone worth paying $10+ mil to in the meantime.
the bonus kicks in with 35% of snaps through two years combined or at least two separate years where 35 % is played… I think. basically if the plays substantially for more than a year he gets sugar on top of the last year. Its not a lot, so its no issue either way. Also, that scenario would be ideal, well Smith doing well enough to be trade bait while Petty takes over would be ideal anyhow.
Ah, wouldn't be hard to pay a fourth rounder no matter what anyway. Only first rounders have fifth year options though, right?
Jets will be running a lot of sub packages. Pace will still see the field but not nearly as much as in the past
I don't know if that would be wise this year even if Mauldin looks good in camp. Next year is another story. Which may be what you meant anyway.
