May that other thread R.I.P. Quality and depth on the OL Quality and depth on the DL JD said he believes in building thru the trenches and he’s backing up his words with actions. Took $5 MM from Crowder and gave it to Moses, I’d call that smart money.
Since you started a new thread I figure I’d state that if the Jets got Sherman on top of this…oh boy would I be excited. I would think we would have a chance at the playoffs as I think our last major weakness is at corner. Getting Sherman and then letting him and Moses walk next year would probably mean we are going to get comp picks so long as Joe D doesn’t sign a lot of free agents which I don’t expect him to.
And our HC woulda been a QB coach on any other team (thanks for screwing us AGAIN, Peyton) I think Sherman would be a great leader for our young CBs I don’t see him leaving the NFC west. Born and raised on the west coast Went to college on the west coast (right outside of SF) Has been working on the west coast for 9 years. -I don’t see him leaving the west coast unless it’s for a boatload of money -I don’t see JD offering a boatload of money.
-It wouldn’t be the biggest record swing in NFL history - Position group by position group we’re strong *except corner - We have a defensive scheme which takes pressure off the corners - We have an offensive scheme which take a pressure off the QB - Every Jets coach sans Gase has a winning first season If Zach Wilson is as advertised, I absolutely expect a shot at the playoffs THIS year
Pretty much everything that could possibly be discussed has already been discussed within the original thread Jets negotiating multi-year deal with OT Morgan Moses(Signs 1 year deal with Jets) Anymore PFF stats we can quote?!? lolo
1996 Jets went 1-15 under Kotite and then 9-7 the following season of 1997 under Parcells and missed the playoffs by 1 play (HB pass INT). Also... 2009: Rookie HC. Rookie OC. Rookie DC. Rookie QB. 2021: Rookie HC Rookie OC. Rookie DC. Rookie QB. Playoffs are very possible.
People keep saying Zach had no pressure when he was at BYU… I guess Joe is trying to make him feel at home lol. #BuildThatWall
In the last previous thread, someone asked the q why we didn't display interest in Trai Turner: Among the 86 guards who played the most snaps in the NFL last season, Turner was graded third-worst overall and dead last in run blocking by Pro Football Focus’ subjective ratings. https://triblive.com/sports/steeler...-swapping-out-david-decastro-for-trai-turner/
If anyone knows Sherman its Selah, so we'd have defer to his judgment. But from what i saw of Sherman last season, he's about done. It feels like it would be the same situation as when we brought Revis back. If we do sign him I hope its cheap and only for a year.
https://www.sny.tv/articles/why-jet...-could-be-their-most-impactful-offseason-move Moves for established OL almost always look good on the way in. However teams rarely let go of established OL unless there's an issue - hopefully the issue with MM is just the cap number. The other thing of course is that the NFL has become a nightmare for vets in the 29-30 range. They're not worth another contract at that point and they have no leeway on injuries at all. Once you're out of the lineup the odds are pretty good you're also off the roster, the red tape just hasn't been pulled yet.
Revis gave us one more productive year before his play fell off. I think Sherman probably a lesser version of Revis that year. Probably won't come too cheap, but I agree it would have to be only a 1 year deal. Problem is, I don't think we can carry more than 7 CB's, and we've thrown a lot of darts at the wall with young guys. Do you risk trying to put them on the PS? I think the Jets want to see more of these guys in camp first to see what they've got. It's going to be a growing pains year at CB.
Don't overlook this aspect of the Moses signing: Jets signing Morgan Moses in major offensive line upgrade (nypost.com) "He is an iron man, having started 97 of his 104 games, starting all 16 games the past six seasons. And it is not as if he is showing signs of slowing down. Moses was on the field for 98 percent of Washington’s offensive snaps in 2020". I think he'll be a good role model for Becton, showing him how to show up for every snap and game.
Well look..I love that we now have Moses but please there's no Commandment "thou Shalt be a Playoff contender"
If there isn't, there ought to be. Jets fans have been "wandering in the wilderness" far longer than the Jews did. God needs to show a little mercy.
