06:15PM - Jets Work Out Offensive Lineman by Gary Grund Pat Yasinskas of the Charlotte Observer reports that former Panthers offensive lineman Will Montgomery was brought in for a workout with the Jets recently. Montgomery played in six games for the Panthers last season, four of which he started at right guard. Montgomery didn?t make it through final cuts.Yasinskas says that Montgomery was a victim of numbers in Carolina, but he?s going to catch on somewhere and have a decent career in the NFL. He?s not one of those guys who wows you with talent, but he?s smart and fundamentally sound and, someday, he?s going to end up in the right spot. Montgomery was a seventh-round pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2006 NFL Draft. He was drafted as a center out of Virginia Tech. During his three-year tenure playing for the Hokies, he played both center and guard. Will Montgomery #66 | Center | Carolina Panthers Roster: Height: 6-3 Weight: 312 Born: Feb 13, 1983 - Brunswick, ME College: Virginia Tech Draft: 2006 - 7th round (26th pick) by the Carolina Panthers
Kelly posts info on every single Jets site and probably every other teams sites. She/he was probably trying to mix up the titles to keep it interesting.

no prob. cheers ~ ~ ~ p.s. as far as catching " flak " ; no prob. there either . i grew up w/ 4 OLDER brothers. yes , i was the only girl
9 Offensive linemen now and a potential replacement for either guard spot if the "starter" goes down. Can't be anything but good news at this point.
Mangini sounded excited about him during the press conference today. He said they're planning to move him around a lot so he can fill in all across the interior of the line. He kept emphasizing his intelligence.
This guy started a few games last year so my guess is he will provide some good depth or maybe even challenge for a starting G spot. And I never knew that Kelly was a girl. She actually told us she was...
Any help on the offensive line is good. Size seems good, intelligence is always good to have when looking at defenses, good way to use one of our free roster spots.
I agree..... And this kid is apparently young and smart, with more starting experience than either of the guys we have at LG... I like the pickup!
Montgomery was a solid player at the college level. He played on some solid run blocking units at VT. I can't claim to know enough about offensive line play to say why he went in the 7th round, but he was a standout player while he was here. I think its a good addition, Id much rather have him in there than Bender, and at 312 pounds, if hes got enough smarts to impress Mangini, he could develop into a solid starter down the road.
