Per Rich Cimini on ESPN. Interesting...is Powell's spot in danger? Goodson definitely is.

Seems like it's that time of year. I guess we'll be hearing about the Jets interest in free agents at every position over the next few months.

It's worth noting Brown is from Atlantic Highlands, NJ and is coming off a season with a career high in yards per attempt (5.3) and rushing touchdowns (6) while catching 27 passes for another 200 yards and 2 touchdowns. Seems like we'll see competition everywhere on the roster

Both of those guys would be an instant upgrade over Powell and Goodson. As much as I like Bilal those guys are better. However WR and TE are more important for us this draft and I'd rather focus our big FA dollars on that. I've been waiting for Brown to break out and he finally did this year. Tate has some serious big play ability. I'd be interested in seeing how much either of them commands.

He went to Red Bank Catholic HS. Him and Knowshon Moreno are tight and have played together in pop warner since they were young. On a side note I remember when Don Bosco held Donnie Brown to -18 yards on 18 carries in a state playoff game when his RBC team got shellacked 42-0.

I went to Manalapan High School but didn't much care for our team then. Apparently Knowshon ran over us while playing for Middletown. Maybe being from Jersey it will help recruit Brown to play for us

Hopefully it does help and he's a pretty good receiver out of the backfield too.

Another RB is a very good move. It's a high turnover position where you don't want a big cap number due to the injury factor.

I'd really like to see Goodson for a season. And with Ivory we really don't have a huge hole at RB.

I agree. I'd like to see a full season of Ivory, Powell and Goodson. Running back is not a need not even close.

Not sure either of those guys are an upgrade over Powell.

Goodson's roster spot could be in jeopardy, but I'd rather bring in a faster running back to compete (through the draft?)

Both these guys are upgrades over Powell. Id like to see Ben Tate in green and white. Him and Ivory is a great combo

Not that it means anything at all but for some reason in Madden 25 Ben Tate is like facing a combo of Jim Brown and Barry Sanders whenever I go against him.

Do you honestly believe that? You honestly believe that Powell is a better back then both Tate and Brown? No way in hell man. I love Powell, but this is just completely false. No way

Powell is a solid back but nothing really special. I always liked Donald Brown, he's a tough runner, good receiver and a very good pass protector.

Something we have lacked here for awhile.

While RB isn't the biggest need, if the Jets can upgrade the RB position without spending an arm and a leg in FA or using a high draft pick, I'm all for it. I'm not convinced that Goodson should be brought back or will be. He's got talent, but they need players who are available and not a distraction. If his legal troubles are behind him and they have some assurances from him that he will keep out of trouble and commit to being the best football player he can be, fine; otherwise send his butt packing, and sign Brown or Tate or draft a RB. Based on the RB rankings I've seen lately, it's seeming like Simms of WVA might drop to the 4th round or lower, however the Combine might change that. He has some speed and good hands, and I think he would be an excellent addition. I'd also love to see either the Black Mamba or Dri Archer added to the team.

I'm pretty sure Goodson will be back. I think they only feel it necessary to give him a shot. He could be a guy like Sproles for us while Tate and Ivory pound the rock inside. Goodson can be that pass catching weapon out of the backfield.

Not if he can't stay out of trouble, healthy and on the field. He also has some fumbling issues. If they could replace him with a player like Tate or Brown, I'd do it in a NY minute.
