Interesting. Jets waived QB Brett Favre off their reserve/retired list. Here we go again? This could mean nothing, but players waived off the retired list become unrestricted free agents, and there have been some rumors lately that Favre is contemplating a return. Favre released a statement, "Bus (Cook) and Mike (Tannenbaun) have been talking about this for a while. Nothing has changed. At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football." Something had to spur this transaction, because the Jets would've just left Favre on reserve/retired otherwise. It's possible Favre wants to sign a one-day contract to retire as a Packer. It's also possible that the Vikings want him again and Favre wants flexibility. If he comes back its not here, so lets move on. Let the Min/GB media spend the next 3 months on this.
Tanny probably just wanted to make sure he got to keep the 7th rounder from the Packers we got because Favre retired. Favre probably just wants to do the whole one day contract deal with the Pack. As he should ...
Oh God I hope he comes back!!! I hope he comes back and falls on his idiotic looking face for another team!!! Please let this happen! 2 td's and 9 int's down the stretch ain't gonna cut it on any team. I don't give a fudge how good your defense is!!!
This guy could have been the iconic figure of his sport, sort of the way Babe Ruth is for baseball. But he had to screw it up. I figure he will try to play again, just to remove whatever respect he still has.
what benifit do the jets get for releasing farve????????????????????? someone above said the jets get the packers 7th round pick by doing this how does that happen?????????????is the 7th round pick in 2010?????????????? dont understand
maybe it's so he can go be with mangini and the browns in some fashion...didn't mangini want him to come in and be some sort of instructor, guest speaker or something?
I think he will sign with Packers, for a day contract - and retire for good. It's a common practice, folks.
I don't think it means much. I don't picture him coming out of retirement. Last year, he felt he got pushed into retirement by the Packers GM. This year, he didn't get that feeling from Woody or Mike. This release allows him to fully retire on his own terms unlike last year. I think it just means he'll sign a one day contract with the Packers (but I don't look for that to happen until 2010). It also might free up any red tape about appearing at a Browns camp and talking to the players for Mangini.
Maybe he can go on a motivational speaking tour? I mean after that really inspiring speach he gave before the Miami game he's a natural. GOD i hate that fuckin' guy. GO AWAY BITCH, YOUR DONE!
