http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/mehta-jets-players-rex-ryan-stay-article-1.2021259 I thought this was somewhat surprising, and deserved its own thread .... I mean, how often do players of a 2-8 team speak out publicly in support of their coach? There are a lot of young, hungry players on this team who want to win, and they think Rex gives them the best chance to do just that. That's got to tell you something! (they certainly know a lot more than we do as fans)
Rex is a good coach. His time in NY had some great moments and some poor. But he always coached his ass off. Tried his best. Made his players play hard for him. But after so many years, I don't think he is getting his message thru the players. Players are hearing same voice again and again but they keep doing the same mistakes on the field. A separation is for the best. Just like Andy Reed, once he leaves Jets he will most likely take a team and make them relevant big time. But his time with the Jets should be over. Just like it was over for Andy in Philadelphia.
"Mark Sanchez gives us the beat chance to win." "Rex Ryan gives us the beat chance to win." Hmmmmmmm.
And both Philly and Reid benefited from the split We can find our "Chip Kelly" and Rex can find his "Kansas City"
And that's why the players play and don't get involved in coaching or player personnel decisions. Rex's problem isn't likeability, it's head coaching ability.
If thats the case then how did he supposedly lose the locker room in 2012 then? I think players realize that when it comes to problems with the team Rex is way behind GM and QB.
Rex can't shine Andy Reid's shoes.... so lets find some lesser individual to compare him with. If they were so hellbent on him remaining the head coach after this season, they really shouldn't have lost eight fucking games in a row. Seriously - You are the worst poster ever. Go away.
While I don't doubt the players affection for Rex....I think change is best for both Rex and the franchise imho
Amen. Jet fans: we can run with the numerical semantics and claim that "we've only had 'X' number of losing seasons over the course of the last 'X' number of seasons" but having said that……just how optimistic do you truly feel about this team, about this organization, and about really matching up against the big boys of this league? The New York Jets: outside looking in. Enough. I want in.
