Good use of the tag IMO. He's a bit on the older side, but he gets a chance to get a good payday if this year works out for him.

I hope Jets pay Maye more than Jamal gets from Seattle (I know, but it'd be funny, especially with Wilson coming here and Sam going there!)

He did not quit and played very hard throughout the season. Without him, we probably would have given up a lot more points every game. One less position we need to worry about. This is a good thing.

Yeah this was expected, feel a little bad for him because he's one of those guys that kept his head down and his mouth shut and played his ass off, hopefully he stays healthy through 2021 and gets his deserved payday.

Just because he’s tagged doesn’t mean he won’t get a long deal this year. This just keeps it from being a bidding war and gives the Jets time.

This gives the Jets more time to work out a possible extension. Him getting something around 3/33, with like 20-24 in guarantees would be ideal. *Not good with contract numbers*

My question is, "Why the franchise tag and not a negotiated agreement"?

Exactly. I think 3 years/$30-35 million is fair. He played like a top 5-10 safety last year and hopefully he sees that there is hope with a new regime.

Win win. That’s an extremely fair price and it gives us exclusivity to negotiate a longterm deal. He’s going to be a huge part of the Saleh defense.

    11M is a fair price.

Hope we work out a long-term deal with him.

Maybe the Jets will hire competition that is much cheaper and will play almost as well or just as well. Then they wouldn't need a high-priced safety.

Would be funny if he was the safety from that draft who became a Jet for life.

Guys, just a heads up. This isn't a confirmation that the Jets tagged him, it's just an article speculating that they will. Sorry for the misinformation, if a mod wants to close this down for the time being, that's fine.

Whilst we have sucked in round two, David Harris would like a quiet word.;)
