I like Banks a lot and I actually do believe he will be who the Jets select Jedrick Wills is still a free agent though. Maybe you just sign him and not worry about tackle in the draft
They have floated that idea before. You can arguably do both, trade down, get a late first for Hall, and pick up the top running back with the extra pick. Depends how they see Hall. He is due for renegotiations soon.
Trading Breece Hall this year would be a dumb move. He's cheap, productive and hungry for a new deal. Those are the situations you want to keep a running back in, not trade. keep him and run him into the ground. He becomes a franchise tag possibility if he plays well. Oops what a problem to have Its particularly helpful for young or questionable passers like say Justin Fields to have a RB you can dump the ball off to and get you ~7 yards per completion
McMillan decided to run at his pro day after he saw his stock dropping: https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1901688945647161582 4.48, faster than I thought.
OK, so looks like it was some Pro Day home cooking. Actual teams had him almost a tenth slower: https://x.com/AlbertBreer/status/1901729180611690624 "Pro Day season is in full swing, and Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan had his workout today. McMillan ran just one 40-yard dash—it was hand-timed at 4.54, 4.55 and 4.57 on the stopwatches of 3 teams I talked to." This is more in line with expectation. I guess not terrible for a bigger guy I suppose, but at #7, I would pass on Tet.
He’s a hard receiver to analyze IMO because he made a lot of big plays on broken plays where he found himself loose down the field with a QB that ran away from behind his line because he’s very short. The question is whether he’s going to be physically dominant in the NFL ala a guy like Mike Evans where short area quickness is irrelevant because of it since I don’t think he’s going to be sudden enough in space to create a ton of separation.
Drake London timed at 4.58 at his pro day. I think London was a tougher, more rugged prospect than McMillan, but McMillan’s hands are just as good, and he is a smoother, more fluid receiver, with better moves after the catch. He was more productive than was London as a collegian. I see no reason that he can’t be as successful as London as a pro.
And if he doesn't play well? How do you explain last year's performance? Didn't run well, and had a lot of drops too. If I could get a 1st round pick for him and get this beast Jeanty, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Look at these numbers from JetX article I posted, he is at the bottom of all starters, including yards over expected, which factors in poor schemes. Now can he turn this around - sure! But he can also perform bad again as it already happened, and he was a year removed from the injury. If I can have Jeanty at #7 AND a late 1st for Breece to make another pick, this is a no brainer IMO. But I doubt anyone will give a 1st for him, so this is more of a pipe dream scenario. 4.2 yards per carry (24th) 0.0 rush yards over expected per carry, per NGS (25th) 38.4% of rushes with positive rush yards over expected, per NGS (23rd) -0.16 EPA per carry, per NGS (32nd) 34.4% success rate, per NGS (35th) 18.5% missed tackles forced rate, per NGS (35th) -8 first downs over expected, per NGS (34th) 0.172 missed tackles forced per rush, per PFF (26th) 0.199 missed tackles forced per touch, per PFF (20th) 3.04 yards after contact per attempt, per PFF (22nd)
Great idea! Assuming that Ward goes number one, we can bank on either Hunter or Carter being available at 3, and the Giants will likely know that Sanders will be there at seven. This would be a win-win for both teams.
Edge rusher is like the only position the jets actually have. This would be a typical jets move to waste more resources on things they don’t need.
It seems to me that the Eagles proved that you can’t have too many rushers. That being said, I upon reflection have to agree with you that going all out for an edge rusher would be unwise at this time, given the many needs in the Jets’ roster.
ok thanks. The almighty bills fan has spoken on the matter. I don’t want them to do anything that doesn’t pass your approval
Yeah, like I said a pipe dream probably to get something this good for Breece, but RB may become a sneaky big need. Take a look at this: https://jetsxfactor.com/2024/12/26/ny-jets-fans-run-game-problem/ Originally I thought the issue with the running game was the OL. I thought they pass protected solid but could not open up holes. But the analytics shows we actually were above average in that area, and way better after 6th game. The problem was that Breece, and to a smaller degree Allen, vastly underperformed. Now, I am not prepared to say he is already washed as he seems too young for that, but it's not like he was some proven star that had an off year. He had great stretches, but is inconsistent at best, and last year's performance, which is a massive chunk of his overall sample size, is simply unacceptable. Especially if we are going to be run first team, which is what it is indeed looking like.
Hall had a down year, I think his head wasnt in the right place. But its a contract year and a new philosophy where the QB wont call 100 boring off-tackle handoffs at the line. Those two things could get him back to playing more inspired.
