You don't draft a tackle at 7 you screwed up. If you do draft a tackle the offensive line is good for about 8 years. This is how champions are made
If Tet is taken at 4, who before them is taking Hunter? 2 QBs most likely going in the top 3. I think Abdul Carter goes before Travis Hunter.
So, for me, logically...After the first wave of FA, the holes on team. This would be my top 7 players for NYJ. No specific order. 1. Mason Graham, DT, Michigan 2. Tet McMillan, WR, Arizona 3. Arman Membou, RT, Missouri 4. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan 5. Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State 6. Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State 7. Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado
Pretty damned good list. I’m a bit more concerned about Tet at the NFL level but the rest are high plug in contributors day one.
I was responding to someone who said we signed Fields and already have Tyrod and Jordan Travis therefore we don’t need to draft a QB.
These are mine. I didn’t include the QBs because I don’t want either of them at 7. I didn’t include Carter or Hunter because I can’t possibly see either of them being available at 7. And I just don’t want Jeanty regardless of how good he is. Some years I go BPA, but then other years (like this year) I draft for need position. 1. Mason Graham, DT, Michigan 2. Arman Membou, RT, Missouri 3. Will Campbell OT, LSU 4. Tet McMillan, WR, Arizona 5. Will Johnson, CB, Michigan 6. Shemar Stewart DE Texas A&M 7. Kelvin Banks, OT Texas
It will be an extremely tough pill to swallow if we signed Brandon Stephens to a $12 million per year contract to play CB and then spent the seventh overall pick on a cornerback while already having a cornerback we need to pay big money to. And I know there’s a portion of the fanbase that says let Sauce walk but you don’t let one of the best man CBs in the league walk when you’re switching to a man scheme. And definitely don’t draft a kid assuming he can replace one of the best. I’d have Warren above Johnson and then trade back if he’s the only guy left.
I was thinking about Will Campbell LSU tackle. I dont know about him guys. I don't think he's a right tackle in this league so drafting him would mean moving Olu Fashanu to the right side. That could work but idk if that's smart considering Olu is just finding his footing on the left side. I like Campbell and I am hoping he finds success in this league but I think if you try to make him a right tackle he will struggle with leverage against the power rushers that teams usually line up against the RT
I think it's almost certainly going Ward at #1, and then Carter/Hunter at 2/3. Cleveland is realistically topping the list of teams (with us) that Deon would plan to "pull on Eli" on if they were to draft him. I also believe the surrounding Deion factor/headache complicates and likely hinders any early trade up from actually materializing elsewhere. I mean you look at a team like Vegas on the surface, but if they they were operating under a potential mindset that they'd be serious about trading up in the 1st to grab a QB I assume we'd of heard leaks of them trying to do that before throwing down a 3rd down on Gino. Or why not sign a free agent for your filler QB instead? That just doesn't gel there with me. And with them off the board who else is realistically trading up with a strong enough offer? I actually don't think it's crazy to suggest that Sanders could see a fair amount of fall, and maybe even out of the top 10 with how the board is set up.
If Carter falls past Cleveland at 2, why not trade up for him? Giants can move from 3 to 7, get probably our 2nd and other pieces, they still could get Shadeur Sanders and we get the best defensive player in the whole draft
This would be an absolute disaster. I can't fathom anyone thinks it's a good idea inside the FO if we realize it's a bad idea on a website.
I am not sure the guy is a tackle at all. The arms are so short, not even 33. Probably IOL. A pass for me, I would rather go with Membou or Banks if it is someone from the OL.
Did anyone watch Banks? Initially Banks was projected higher, but Membou overtook him after great combine. Still, Banks has quite the accolades. Unanimous all American, first team all SEC in 2024, 1st team Big 12 in 2023, etc... Played LT tackle too, which normally means he went against better players in College.
There’s 12 guys that have potential to start on day one at the OT position, especially RT. Guys like Cam Williams, Ersery, Savainaea, Mbow, and Donovan Jackson have dominant traits that would make them a top 10 prospect in most years.
Let’s face it. We have a golden opportunity to select three rookies with the first three picks that could be immediate contributors/starters in arguably positions of need. RT, IDL, TE,WR and CB for starters. . Short of RB everything is in play. The draft is rich in many of those areas. Forget QB and stock up where the talent is.
Yeah, if you look positionally, probably it makes sense. Also, I am somewhat excited about Okorafor. Yes last year he literally had a few bad snaps when he played as a LT. He played total 12 snaps, 6 rushing, which were good, and 6 passing, where he was beat most of the time. Now, it was the first time he played LT, and the sample size is EXTREMELY small. He then had a feud with the coaches it looks like and never played again. But he did play for 4 years as a starter in Pitts right before that. He was not great, but reports from Pitts are saying he was solid and actually better than Broderick Jones. So, he can actually play. Now I do think we need a starter as Okorafor (and frankly Moses at his age) are better suited as back-ups, but I do think he is a massive upgrade over Max and Carter Warren. Now, if we do not take a RT and Graham is gone, what to do? Is Tyler Warren the best option? Is he a good blocker? I am OK now with taking a TE earlier given how Brock turned out, but Brock was a bit of a unicorn. Warren was not that great until last year, and he will be 23 soon, while Brock was dominant since freshman season. It just feels like there are multiple solid options, but not a great one at 7, which is why it would be ideal to trade back a bit if possible. But if Warren is a great blocker it would make him the favorite. Reports very on that though.
Here is an idea, what if that highly touted RB is there for us? Breece had a down season and his contract is running out. Would it be crazy to trade him to pick up some decent pick maybe Day 2 (which we can use for a OT or DT) and draft our version of Ghibbs on a rookie deal? https://jetsxfactor.com/2025/02/07/ny-jets-breece-hall-trust-going-forward/
