Jets notes (D Rob position up in he air?) LEFT HANGING ON CHAD: Team officials haven't been forthcoming with information about Chad Pennington's recovery from shoulder surgery No. 2. In an interview yesterday with ESPN, Mangini said Pennington "will be involved" in a late May passing camp. Minutes earlier, in a different interview, he was evasive on Pennington's timetable. "He's progressing, and to say whether he will play in minicamp wouldn't be fair at this point," Mangini said. Pennington, seven months removed from surgery, started soft-tossing March 1. Though he hasn't seen him throw lately, a person familiar with the injury said it would be a victory if Pennington is participating in training camp on a one-a-day basis. TACKLE TRAFFIC: DT Dewayne Robertson's role is a bit of a mystery. Asked about nose tackles on the roster, Mangini mentioned Kimo von Oelhoffen, Monsanto Pope and Sione Pouha. ... The Jets have five QBs on the team: Pennington, Patrick Ramsey, Brooks Bollinger, Kliff Kingsbury and second-round pick Kellen Clemens, not to mention Smith. Bollinger could be on shaky ground.
