I would say I am excited about the possibility of Matt Leinart, but apparently I am not allowed to do that around here.

And Goodwin is gone. Was this article written two weeks ago?

Nice quote by Leinart about Joe Namath being the last bigtime QB, on and off the field for the Jets..

Really slaps noodle-arm in the face doesn't it?

    No...

I think if you asked Pennington he'd say he's not a big time personality off the field like Namath.

Forget Leinart all newspaper hype to get the sexy pick so they can write stories. What a disgrace to even compare himself to Namath. Maybe Leinart should keep his mouth shut. Maybe he should check history. Last i saw Curtis Martin is a hall of fame running back. Maybe he is on the down side but look at what he has accomplished. I still believe ha can get you 800 to 1000 yds even sharring time.

Jeez guy calm down. All Leinart said is that he's confident in his abilities.

The whole Kendall bit is inaccurate. Jonathan Goodwin already left the Jets for the Saints, thank God!

Thanx Hydro, this line really caught my eye. If Leinart arm is not as big a question mark as I thought I would have no problem jumping to 2 to grab him

    1) As much as Joe is a patron saint for Jets fans, Leinart needs to produce a lot more than Joe did as a pro. Terry Bradshaw is a better model for the kind of career I'm looking for from a QB we draft in the top 5.

    2) The only reason Leinart is saying all these things about NY and the Jets is to make sure he doesn't slide past #4. Every spot he drops, he'll lose thousands of dollars. That being said, he obviously has no problems coming here, but don't be fooled by all his sweet-talk.

I dont think thats why he is saying these thing but I would not totally dismiss them though. Im not really sure if he is saying this to be courteous or he is playing chess with Nfl teams. I think he can be a franchise QB, he has some things which scare me but I would support a trade up to #2. The biggest downfall about trading up to 2 would be ganggreen members who were arguing for williams over feguson or mangold at 29 etc.:) which were ultimately pointless

Why would you say that? I say screw whoever doesn't like your opinions. I would love leinart I just don't want us to give up the farm for him. If NO wants to trade down then fine but they are going to have comprimise on the compensation. I don't want to see a deal like the giants made to get eli. We have to many holes and we need these picks. I will say this for the FO though am liking the fact that they are putting their best poker face on. I just dont want us to add to that video everyone keeps posting with another bad draft.

So he's cocky like Namath was. Namath backed it up on the field, will Leinart?

We're not drafting leinart unless we move up, and I sure as hell hope we're not moving up.

When the Giants made their move for Eli Manning they had to give up more than we would have to IMO.

If we give them #4 and either the 29th or 35th...there won't be much compensation required after that if any at all...

Losing the pick(s) this year will sting a little bit, but like I have said before, in the long run we would look at losing those picks and laugh ourselves to sleep.

I am not trying to change your mind, but Leinart would give this team a much needed future and identity.

PS: him mentioning Joe Namath shows me he has respect for our franchise history.
