at profootballtalk.com they are getting through the boring offseason by asking people to vote on the Mt. Rushmore for each team. They haven't gotten to the Jets yet but it is a good topic for the offseason. See list below and if you have another name I didn't put in the poll please mention it.

I am going to leave Namath off b/c obviously he's going to make it so there are 10 choices for 3 spots. We haven't been a great franchise but it's still tough cutting the list down to 10.

    Winston Hill
    Gerry Philbin
    Don Maynard
    Freeman McNeil
    Wesley Walker
    Joe Klecko
    Curtis Martin
    Weeb Ewbank
    Nick Mangold
    Mo Lewis

    Kleco, Weeb, and Curtis.

2 HOF'ers and the coach that brought the Jets their only ring

Nick Mangold is still playing ball. Where is Chrebet? No man wore like that motha #80

That's a real receiver not a pussy like Holmes.

There were some tough choices, Chrebet wasn't quite on the level of the guys I chose.

Maybe Petro can put the 3 from the poll along w/ Namath as the new banner?

Curtis Martin and Joe Klecko would have started for the '68 team. Not their fault the team didn't win championships while they were Jets.

    What about Gastineau?

I know, I know, he's was a bitch. But hear me out. I think it should be representative of era's and if you do that, you have to have the Sack Exchange. Klecko was great, but we all know there's no sack exchange without Gastineau

Maybe it is, Curtis had a big fumble in the '98 title game and Joe was hurt in '82.

I'd say Klecko, Martin and Maynard.

Although Klecko would make it a really ugly mountain.

Not sure why you have Mangold on there at this point, although I love the guy.

Could you argue Mawae over Mangold for this list right now? I think so.

I put mangold over him b/c he's only been a Jet and he is signed long term. mawae was a Seahawk for 4 years at the beginning of his career anda Titan the last 4 years. he spent 8 years here, this will be Mangold's 8th year.

I'll make my own rule of only including players, not coaches, making it easy for me to choose Klecko, Martin, and Maynard. To me, with Weeb and Namath they are the overwhelming choices for top 5.

That's ur HO but who knows if U R correct or incorrect in that theory since U most likely never saw the 68 team play . Since I SAW the 68 team play every game having been a STH since 65 MHO is Snell & Boozer were way, way better then CM in CM best days so I have to disgree. As for the DL I would say they would hold there own vs Klecko as well.
