Jets news: The team is hosting free-agent QB Mark Brunell today. First indication Jets want a vet backup.

    bye bye Clemens......

at least Brunell can pass the rock without it bouncing twice on the turf....before it reaches the intended receiver.

i would rather see bulger due to the age factor but brunell has had success in the NFL as well and would definitely be a better option than clemens.

I like it. Brunell has always seemed like a stand-up guy, and I think he'd be a good person to have around a developing Sanchez. Clemens just seems to have lost confidence in his game, and Brunell would be a more steady calming hand should Sanchez go down anytime next year.

I would take a "stage 4 retard" over Clemens at this point.

Brunell!? That would be the worst move for a backup. I wouldn't want Brunell to teach Sanchez shit, and he probably wouldn't. Brunell is the laziest QB in the league. Talk about a guy who doesn't give a shit, Mark Brunell is that man. I remember him chucking up picks in Washington, and just throwing up a hand like, "whatever dude" Please, Just say NO to Mark Brunell.

Brunell is also coming off a Super Bowl win........championship experience is always a nice bonus.

Hey come on, Clemens did beat Tampa. But still Brunell or Bulger is the better option here.

Brunell and Bulger are both seriously injury prone. You can't bring in a vet QB who has a reasonable chance of going down after your starter is done for the season. Didn't we learn anything from the Jay Fiedler fiasco?

the prevailing thought here is that if your starter goes down for the year your kinda screwed either way. the more practical way to look at a backup is if he could be helpful if the starter needs to miss a game or two. i know pennington still gives us all nightmares but you can't build a team around the possibility of your starting qb going down for the year.

to make a long story short if sanchez goes down for the year we are screwed either way. if he misses a game like last season we have a guy capable of keeping the ship afloat for the short term.

Brunell isn't awful.. he was a decent average QB. Not elite, but certainly a solid backup to have on your roster. Clemens is like having a cow-pie on your roster.

Hopefully if they bring in Brunell it means they are packaging up Clemens for a trade deal as bait. Not going to be great bait, but it would be something to see him go anyway.

On the championship team Brunell and the towel boy had the same experience.

    This is pushing it...

Some guy at ultimate skins had the greatest sig I have ever seen. It was a windows error message that read: "You are Mark Brunell. Santana Moss is streaking down the sideline."
    The three buttons were:
    -Throw it away
    -Dump it down to Betts
-Bomb it to Moss - This one was grayed out so you couldn't click it.

Dude has no arm left so it's pretty much like signing Pennington. In any case, this does not bode well for Clemens.
