Let White back in game with 4 broken ribs. While some rib fractures are hard to see on X-ray and need to be scanned, what a bad job for the medical staff
Initial x-rays of White's ribs during the Buffalo game probably didn't show anything which is why he was able to return to the game. After some time, as a fracture begins to heal, you'll see the area around the injury begin to sclerose. The diffuse white particles in the surrounding area make the rib injury much easier to spot. White probably said he was fine, and doctors had nothing to go on to keep him out. As the injury healed they were probably able to get a better look at the damage to his ribs which is why it took them several days to officially rule him out.
I think this is a fake injury. It’s real, but if this was the superbowl he would play. This is a hedge from the front office.
I'm not sure Mike White was really ever on the Jets, if you think about it. Name is waaaaay to simple. Who's next, Scott Brown?
The target date was always the Detroit game for Wilson. Coaching staff told OL to let a defender run free until White was significantly injured. Doctors were then paid off when Iron Mike was able to muscle through. This is on the Jets front office. The have White's ribs on their hands. The story will come out after the season.
June 13, 2017 Chest X-Ray Misses Most Rib Fractures Daniel J. Pallin, MD, MPH, reviewing Murphy CE IV et al. Ann Emerg Med 2017 May 27 In a large multicenter cohort of blunt trauma patients, 24% had rib fractures and two thirds of these were missed by plain films. Computed tomography (CT) is more sensitive than plain films for rib fractures, but by how much? To answer this question, investigators conducted a planned secondary analysis of two prospective cohort studies of blunt trauma patients enrolled in the National Emergency X-Radiography Utilization Study. The investigators also compared mortality between patients with first or second rib fractures and those with fractures of other ribs. Of 8661 patients who had both a chest CT scan and a chest x-ray performed in the emergency department, 24% had rib fractures, and 66% of fractures were seen only on CT scan. Patients with first or second rib fractures had significantly higher mortality than those with other rib fractures (7% vs. 4%), and were significantly more likely to have great vessel injury (odds ratio, 4.4). I know we have some doctors here, I am not one but I did figure the above was going to be the reason why he was sent back in.
I find it interesting under rex ryan there were barely any injuries…since the adam gase took over its a weekly injury
No the coaching staff should be fired for letting Mike White back in with bad ribs. Once again Saleh proves he lets the players do what they want.
Bowles was in there somewhere. I think the thing that changed and started escalating the injuries was in 2011 the NFLPA negotiated to limit practices required of the players. 2-a-days were done away with.
It started around the time Sal Alosi, Rex's strength and conditioning coach, got fired for tripping a dolphins player on the sideline. Edit: Also what abyzmal said.
I'd like to point out that when Favre tore his bicep (in his throwing arm!) and Mangini put him back on the field, the intelligentsia on this message board near unanimously blamed Favre for his subsequent poor play for the rest of the season - not the coaching staff, not the medical staff.
That was Joe Douglas's big overhaul. He fired the previous medical staff and revamped the whole thing. It looks like the Jets suffer more injuries than most teams. Becton has been out for almost 2 seasons. AVT and B Hall are both out.
Good point, but to be fair it was his biceps tendon. Not his biceps. Big difference. https://slate.com/news-and-politics...-need-his-biceps-tendon-to-play-football.html
