Jets | Martin wants to resume career Thu, 19 Oct 2006 12:02:25 -0700 Dennis Waszek Jr., of the Associated Press, reports New York Jets RB Curtis Martin (knee) expressed his desire to resume his playing career and put his knee injury behind him. "I feel as though I've gotten better," said Martin. "I feel as though I'm running a little better. The one thing I was concerned about was making the cuts. Once you get out there, instincts take over. I haven't been put in that situation. I don't know how that'll turn out." Martin later added that he is hopeful to begin practicing after Week 8. Martin remains on the team's PUP list.
I hope he doesnt do more damage. There is more to life then football and this team wont be in position to win the big game before his time is up
Man, this really changes my opinion on whether he will be back. If the above is true I bet he is back after the bye.
The man is a football warrior. So tough and dedicated its scary. I hope that when his career is done he gets offered a position within the organization just so that the younger players can be exposed to him. Such a class act.
I'm almost afraid to see him come back. I hope everything turns out OK for him and that he goes out on top!
I want him to come back but if he does he probably won't last long. His knee is already bone-on-bone and he hasn't been hit yet. Who know's what could happen when he's getting hit every other play on that knee. Although, Pennington came back off 2 shoulder surgeries and he's playing great so who knows.
I understand that he wants to play, cause he has a huge heart and love for the game. But think about it, is he really gonna help this team? and is it worth him having a horrible life after football? Its already almost a givin that hes gonna get arthritis. Shit, he might not be able to walk when he's an older man if he screws anything else up. I love the guy, but for his own sake i hope he doesnt play.....
did anyone else see that special on Earl Campbell on ESPN the other day? if CMart does come back, i really hope that it wont affect his life after football as much as it did for Earl Campbell... the poor guy can barely walk now, has back pain, can barely sleep, and just has so many physical issues from being a professional RB. Granted, he was a different kind of runner, but still, i would hate to see something along those lines happen to Martin
I don't think Curtis would come back if he could disable himself in any way for the rest of his life. I hope he comes back and at least gets a few carries in each game if not be the starter
agree with you 100% i dont wanna see curtis limp through the line like emmitt smith...curtis deserves nothing but the best
