Who really gives a shit anyway. We know how these things work. Here's the link. http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/results/winlose.html
Just like he said at the top of the page....He really has no rights to make these claims. wait till at least one season is through
detroit lions winners? uhhhh yea right. With their pick of gosder cherilus with mendenhall on the board? that's bull
Alot of draftniks thought we lost because we wanted DMC and didn't get him. Personally, DMC scared me because of the family situation.
That is the worst reason possible. Who cares if he has kids with different women? It's ridiculous to knock that kid as a player because he made some bad decisions with women. At least he's man enough to support his kids.
Cherilus may just end up the best OL in the draft.... Detroit did the right thing, addressing the OL rather than taking a skill player who will never get a chance to shine without OL help..
As I wrote in my draft review, Cherilus is a very good fit at right tackle. As long as they realize that that's what he is: a right tackle, nothing more, nothing less.
Look at my topic in the main Jets forum here. I posted my argument on his site as well, and he locked the thread for disagreeing: Link to topic on nfldraftcountdown.com
Agreed. Detroit broke tradition and actually made a wise pick, although not sexy and it may be the first time in years that it's worth commending Matt Millen rather than ripping him.
I think the main criticism comes from taking Cherilus, who proved this year at BC that he's only a RT at the next level, when Jeff Otah was still on the board, who has the potential to actually do so. I'm not saying good RT's are a dime a dozen, but they're much more common than a franchise LT. Oh, and Scott Wright can shove it. He's always been good at evaluating players but post-draft he's useless. Didn't he call the Giants losers last year?
The family Situation I spoke of was not his kids, its his actual family. His brothers got him in 2 fights in clubs, one of which he was injured and unable to play.
The page looks like he put 32 teams in a hat and the first group of teams he pulled were winners and the others were loser... he could have at least written a sentence to explain his decision.
Well at least Peter King of Sports Illustrated likes us enough to be considered on the bubble playoff contenders, even though I've posted his pre season rankings in multiple NFL forums only to be met with comments like "The Jets at 14? Is this guy smoking crack?" or "How the hell are the horrid Jets ranked above [paste team here]. I think I've copied and pasted our off season moves and plans for our draft picks a dozen times. But people still doubt us. We hear bunk comments like: "Wow, you guys gave up too much for Kris Jenkins who is unproven in the 3-4 and njury prone." "Calvin Pace was a one year wonder. You guys are retards for paying that much!" "Alan Faneca and Tony Richardson are past their prime" "Damien Woody? You guys paid a guard that much to play Right Tackle LOLZ!" "Ha Gholston, that guy is a boom or bust player who'll probably be a certified Bust because he wasn't even fully commited to football in college." "LOL typical Jets. Reaching in the first round for a tight end who can't even block! WORST PICK IN THE FIRST ROUND!!!"
...ah, not this again. Jonathan Stewart, Rashard Mendenhall, Felix Jones, Darren McFadden, and maybe even the speedy over-picked midget also known as Chris Johnson COULD and SHOULD have better careers than Kevin Smith. Smith will get an early opportunity in Detroit, and everyone will probably be saying "I told ya so", but Stewart, Mendenhall, Jones, Johnson, and McFadden will also produce as rookies. Those 5 should have the best production, or the biggest impact.
Are you kidding me? I love mid-majors. Everyone's love for Kevin Smith is what's sad. (I'm a Fresno State alum and this is our year to make a BCS run...after we wax Rutgers in the opening game. You know what conference Fresno's in: The WAC...which is a mid-major!?!?!) If you look back to before the draft, you'll see a thread about Smith being a better player than McFadden. GM stood strong in that thread, but he knows I have nothing against mid-majors. However, I am against I-AA players like Rodgers-Cromartie...one good week at the Senior Bowl, and a great combine makes you a Top 10 pick? Wrong. That's why he slid down to the Cards. I can't see Smith being a better pro than any of the guys that I listed ahead of him. I can't argue with his production at UCF, but I don't think he'll be a constant threat in the NFL. By the way, Chris Johnson is a mid-major player at ECU.
I thought that Dallas picking Jones over Mendenhall was one of the biggest mistakes of the draft. I think Smith will have just as good a career as Jones.
