Well its obvious the Jets want a receiver to fill in while Holmes is out. Being that this guy is older and will likely come cheap I guess its viable. It did seem like the Jets werent huge on Coles being that he was pretty much non existant in the preseason (although he is older as well). If the Jets could get him after the season starts (to avoid guaranteed money) and cheaper/similar to Coles in money I wouldnt be shocked. That said I could see no reason why Housh would wanna be a jet knowing that he has no future here and might not even play out the year
He would have no long term prospects with us which basically gives him no incentive to sign here unless literally no other team showed interest.
We have a player with Houshmandzadeh's skill set on the Jets already. His name is Jerricho Cotchery, he's younger, he's cheaper and he's not a fucking asshole.
damn right, and cotch is completely underrated around the league. I could see the Jets being interested if he's cut but I think he's better off going to the Vikings. Rice could be out half the season and he's coming off an injury. He could wind up being the #1 guy there. No chance that happens here.
Hes old and hes played for shitty teams. Id say along with most players their incentives probably go 1) Money 2) Superbowl. He wouldnt get 1 from us, but we are probably his best shot @ #2. And #2 is the ONLY reason he would even consider coming here . (btw I dont know if anyone remembers this but he was on ESPNs first take last year and he said he loves the Jets, he loves rex ryan and would love to play for the Jets)
I think for any credible newsbreaking items a blog might not be the best source. I heard Vincent Jackson is available too.
I think the fact that Houshmandzadeh's available means that V-Jax is a Seahawk by tomorrow. I mean, would Pete Carroll go into the season with Mike Williams as his number one? That's a stretch.
I can't see him coming to the Jets. It is just not the right fit at all. I personally didn't like Coles, but he was better fit here considering he knew what his role was and would probably end up getting cut after week 4. TJ is obviously an upgrade over him, but he would not sign up for such a role on this team. I don't see it. Also, I noticed the Jetsblog poster mentioned him as an upgrade over Clowney, but the clown still has much more value to the Jets since he can actually play special teams. I would be floored if TJ ends up signing here.
Well, he has made strides and was highly touted coming out... plus they have Branch, Butler and Tate...
Thing is he'd probably be released after Holmes gets back so even if we did reach the SB he most likely would have been dumped months ago. And they'd probably sign him after week 1 so his contract is't fully guaranteed, so he probably has a chance to make more money elsewhere. It just doesn't make any sense for him unless, like Coles, we are the only team that comes knocking.
It is hard to believe, but M. Williams has definitely looked pretty good this preseason. Obviously, this alone cannot warrant someone the #1 WR job, but maybe, Carroll has seen enough for him to be comfortable with that decision? Cutting TJ would make you assume this was the case. Whether it is right or wrong...we'll have to wait and see on that one.
