Bethea is a borderline stud, but i'd never trade a 1st rounder for him. a 2nd rounder, probably he's tough in coverage, plays fast and can hit the hell out of people. would be a huge improvement over rhodes
Well, if this is true, and I have my doubts, then it's possible the Jets could trade the 29th pick for Bethea, then trade Rhodes for a 3rd and 5th or something. I don't think Rhodes would net that much, but all it takes is one team. I don't think it's enough of an upgrade though.
Who are you going to get with the 29th pick that is better than Bethea? I'll go with the proven every day of the week.
Yeah this sounds BS to me. I'd rather draft a safety in the first if I had to. No way we give up a 1st for Bethea and then sign him to a huge contract next yr or lose him all together. If we draft a rookie at 29 or lower, he wouldn't avg more than $2 mil a yr., would be younger and will stay with us for at least 4-5 yrs assuming we draft well. Its not like safety is a huge need right now to be giving up a first.
ok...maybe I'm an ignorant asshole but I would hand the Colts our 1st round pick with a bow on it for Bethea. Do that....trade Rhodes for a few picks and be done with. Although not having a pick till the 3rd round isnt ideal there is NOBODY we can pick up in the 1st round better than Bethea.
We could be coming in with a trade for less than a first, maybe Rhodes in a package deal. Or it could just be Tannenbaum using his "leave no stone unturned" philosophy. ...or it could just be Bethea's reps trying to create some buzz by floating around rumors.

Oh shit..I thought we didnt have a 2nd? I'm not in full draft mode yet. Bethea is def. a stud...we do get him...which I doubt but if we do, this team is def. doing everything they can to make a big time, go for broke, run at it this year.
