Most of it we've heard already, but a decent read none the less. http://www.usatoday.com//sports/football/nfl/jets/home.htm
I'm curious to see how they handle Victor Hobson. I'd say if we sign Adalius Thomas, Hobson will have to absolutely play his ass off to be resigned.
Good read but the guy completely lost me with the following quote: . LOL is he confusing this guy with Jerald Sowell or Richie Anderson? I think is neither of the above. (good blocker or reciever or you can argue either player I named as well :lol
I thought he did alright when he came in. I don't think so. Trade him whilst he still has some value.
See this proves that you DID NOT get what I posted. Now please read this very slowly so you grasp it this time. The question was that you NEVER replied to was what IF we DO NOT obtain that monster, massive, quality NT that some here think we can just pluck off a tree what do we do with JV since you all acknowledge that without a monster, massive, quality NT JV extremely poor & unproductive play will continue & he will never be a dominant MLB in the 3-4
Champ does make a good point. If Vilma needs an enormous NT to be able to have any sort of success, does that indeed make him a great player. You can argue that with a huge NT, even the most average LB would be able to have a good amount of success in the 3-4 system. If that is the case, does that make Vilma actually worth it for us, and would we be able to classify him as a great or very impactful player? It definitely is something to think about.
Fellas- the moral of the story is to never take anything USA Today writes seriously. The writers for this publication and proven time and time again that they just aren't in touch with the inner workings of the team, i.e. the Askew statement, amongst others in the past.
Well to say I am suprised to receive some support from you was shocking to say the least but thanks for it
I'm in the silent minority. I don't see anything wrong with exploring the market to see what Vilma is worth. If the coaching staff thinks that we can get better value by doing that, I would fully support it. I don't have a definitive judgement on what I think Vilma will become in this system...I'll leave that to others.
Excellent post, and I completely agree. I don't believe Vilma is a great or impact player. I think he is pretty good in the 4-3 and average in the 3/4 system. Having said that, there are potentially teams that do view him as a great player, thus his trade value is very high. I think we should look into trading him, we could aquire something very nice. No one is talking about this, because for some reason they have Barton being cut?, but say we do sign Adalius Thomas. Why not go with this linebacking corps.. A Thomas - V.Hobson - E. Barton - B Thomas... and trade Vilma. I think that corps is definetely a step up from last years, not to mention whatever we can get for Vilma. Is a first rounder to much to ask for? Possibly... but maybe we could fill one of our needs by trading him, RB, DE, DT, CB.... who knows...
And as I've told champ numerous times, without that NT what is our 3-4 defense anyway? Look at all the teams with a very effective 3-4, all of them have that NT clogging the middle, without that NT there is only so much our defense is capable of, in other words if we want a great defense and stay with the 3-4, we have to get one, that isn't optional
The value of the NT should not be underestimated. The point is, would our defense with an above average NT require the presence of Vilma on the field, or would we still able to have a high-caliber defense without Vilma while being able to recoup another high draft pick. If the downgrade of losing Vilma and replacing him with another ILB isn't that significant in a 3-4, a high draft pick would be able to serve us much better.
