Jets and Pats appear to be leading the pack to sign LB Dont'a Hightower but several others monitoring closely as well

If we have serious interest, I would not be against signing him

He just turned 27 so he fits our rebuilding timeline and is a great player

Totally agree and ILB is a pretty big need.

Would really like this signing. Good player who can play multiple positions and very athletic.

What is your thoughts on signing hightower and cutting harris? MLB position of Hightower and Lee could be pretty damn good and would allow us to focus on the secondary almost exclusively for defense in the draft.

Pats have a ton of cap space and can match any offer made, wouldn't get my hopes up.

If the Jets sign Hightower they probably cut David Harris. They'll play Hightower in his slot inside and put Lee next to him.

David Harris has a $6.5m cap hit with no dead money if cut. Replacing him with Hightower would be a great move.

Seems like that is what Bowles wants to do. Would be interesting to see how we approach the draft if we have our minds set at running a base defense at 4-3. We will have to wait and see what we do with Sheldon. If we do trade him it might leave the door open for Allen at #6 to plug in on the 4-3 line. Something I was initially against but could turn the defense around if we make this fundamental switch.

I would have rather cut Harris earlier, kept Erin Henderson at 2.5mil this year, and let Henderson and Lee hold down middle.

Isn't the whole idea to get younger? Unless this is an attempt of sabotage to drive up the price for the Pats I think this is a move in the wrong direction.

    Why a 4-3 now, isn't Bowles a 3-4 guy with some hybrid??

yea, allen would help in that formation for sure. not crazy about mauldin but he can put his hand down and has some speed. with wilk and leo on the inside you really just need a speed guy to be a tackle around the edge. notsure how the board would handle yet another d lineman in the 1st

Henderson finished the year with some mysterious non-injury related illness or something. He can't be counted on, no idea what even happened.

With no chance for the playoffs, being a Jet gives you more time off!
