Jets hire Collette Smith as coaching intern Posted by Michael David Smith on May 26, 2017, 6:30 PM EDT The Jets plan to hire Collette Smith as an intern working with defensive backs during training camp, making her just the third woman to work in a coaching capacity for an NFL team. “I’m over the top. I’m humbled and I’m proud,” Smith, a lifelong Jets fan, told the New York Daily News. “This could have happened with any NFL team. But it just so happened that it was with my beloved New York Jets. This is bigger because of that. God forbid it would have been with the Patriots. But I still would have done it.” The 44-year-old Smith played three seasons for the New York Sharks of the Independent Women’s Football League. She spent some time last year observing Jets practices and speaking with head coach Todd Bowles, who was impressed enough from their discussions to offer her a role with the team during camp. meh. Good for her. Lifelong Jets fan. As far as I'm concerned she's one of us and living the drea...nightmare. Nothing wrong with giving someone an internship. That's all it is. You're nuts if you think there will ever be a full time female coach in the NFL anytime soon.

Honestly don't see what the big deal is.she is the 3rd woman and the jets are the 3rd team to do this.its not new at this point and hardly groundbreaking.
Of all the things you could complain about, you choose this? Have you checked her background to know she is not qualified? That is the only way I can make sense of someone complaining about an intern coach.

I know the term "snowflake" has become popular these days, and it doesn't make sense at all when used the way it's intended to be used. Maybe it's supposed to define the Jets fanbase. It's unbelievable the lengths this board goes to just to find ways to be unhappy.
