Well, lets hope so....lol http://http://www.nypost.com/seven/07142009/sports/jets/jets_hope_vernon_is_on_pace_179111.htm JETS HOPE VERNON IS ON PACE By DAN MARTIN Last updated: 11:13 am July 14, 2009 Posted: 2:32 am July 14, 2009 Calvin Pace's loss could be Vernon Gholston's gain. At least that's what Kerry Rhodes hopes. The Jets will be without Pace for the first four games of the season after the linebacker was suspended for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances, and Rhodes said he believes Gholston will be up to the task of replacing Pace. "We've got capable guys and Gholston has learned the system and is doing better," Rhodes said of the Jets' former first-round pick, who struggled last year during his rookie season. "He's been through a whole year and he's older. And now he's going to be more aggressive and attack. But it's not just him. We're not going to put all the pressure on him." Rhodes, a close friend of Pace, said Pace is doing well but is remorseful. "He's doing the best he can," Rhodes said last night at Justin Tuck's Celebrity Billiards tournament, benefitting Tuck's child literacy program, at Slate in Midtown. "He knows he didn't do the right thing." Tuck's Giants have their own suspension to deal with. New linebacker Michael Boley, who is still recovering from hip surgery, was suspended for the team's first game stemming from his arrest over a year ago for allegedly punching his wife. Chase Blackburn played weakside linebacker last year and is ready to play there again if called upon. "I hope at least I'm competing for the job," Blackburn said. "I have a lot more confidence than I did last year."
i hate it that pace has to say that what he did was wrong maybe it was wrong in a sense that it was against the rules of the nfl, but steroid use has gotten such a bad reputation undeservedly not to mention im sure 75% of the league has used them at some point or other
...to go one step further, i think ALL pro athletes should be REQUIRED to take steroids. Get amped up. Justify those $1M per rollerball i mean per game pay checks. question: if the romans had steroids, do you think the gladiators would be fined for using them?
i dont think pace used steroids. i'm pretty sure i read it was an over the counter substance that the league has banned. things like hydroxcut are not steroids yet the nfl still has them on their banned substances list.
I think we have to look at it as a silver lining that Gholston will get a chance to prove himself early in the season. He has time to physically and mentally prepare to be a started and to live up to his draft pick.
I think most of them use supplements and I have no problem with it at all. I don't hear Steelers fans crying in woe over the rings the 70s teams wear after hearing how rampant steroids use was with those teams. These guys want to ruin their bodies playing this game for millions, it won't color the way I look back on the team 20 years from now.
I am going to say that I am the President of the Vernon Gholston Bandwagon and think he will be productive for us
I have faith in the Easter Bunny and Vernon Gholston. And I see them making plays for the Jets equally. Although the Easter Bunny is better in coverage.
He's full of shit. He had a team mate get suspended for the same thing last year and he tried to sell it to everyone that "he didn't know". Bullshit. I think he is/was juicing and got busted. Of course he's going to play dumb. I think most of them are juicing anyway. As for Gholston, I'm hopeful that he'll come through and be a big time player for us, but I'm very concerned at this point.
