4. New York Jets Kayvon Thibodeaux, DE/OLB, Oregon 5. New York Giants Evan Neal, OT, Alabama 7. New York Giants Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, CB, Cincinnati 10. New York Jets Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State NFL Mock Draft 3.0: Jets, Giants fill a variety of needs (nypost.com) Both teams take one offensive and one defensive player. To me, the Giants win in a landslide. First, compare the offensive players: Jets take WR Wilson, Giants take LT Neal. Neal will be in on 100% of the offensive snaps, both run and pass, helping the Gmen in the total game, while WR Wilson will be one of three WRs in rotation and he'll be in on 30% of the snaps, about half our passing downs. On Defense, DB Sauce will be on the field 100% of the defensive snaps, and is great against the run game too. While DE Thibs will be in a rotation on passing downs, and will play probably 30% of the snaps. I think Sauce will have more ints and TFL tackle for loss than Thibs will get sacks. What do you think? Jets did OK in this mock?
If that's the Jets draft I'm ecstatic. If I were a Giants fan and those are the two players we got at 5/7 I would also be ecstatic.
What matters here is the Jets get a playmaker on both sides. Let Giants fans worry about their picks.
It’s easy to see how much it makes sense for either team to me, I’m not sure it’s obvious that one did much better than the other.
