He can be a nice placeholder until we grab one of these beasts in next year's draft. https://www.profootballnetwork.com/tight-end-prospects-2021-nfl-draft/
Doubt it. With Herndon and Griffin, I don't see it necessary to take another tight end with so many holes still pending
It's a cardinal sin to never draft a player from the Florida Gators. They all end up busts or injured. Don't make that mistake. Other than Marcus Maye, which the jury is still out on, name me one Gator player that panned out as of recent....
they usually have good players just bad luck in NFL w injuries. Pouncey brothers are good players. Jordan reed was a good TE until injuries. Joe Haden same thing, Dante Fowler and Dunlap
Griffin and Herndon (whose potential I like) shouldn't stop us from getting an elite TE prospect. Sam needs as many weapons as possible. Griffin will likely not be on the team after 2022. Herndon still needs to prove that he can stay healthy, produce, and stay out of trouble off the field. By this time next year, the OL should be in far better shape, we should have another WR or two, and a new CB or edge rusher from this year's draft. I don't think it's a stretch to say our offense could use two good TE's that can grow with Sam over the upcoming years.
No brainer. Guy playing well and showed good chemistry with Darnold. I always thought he played well in Houston too even though he didn't get much playing time. Hopefully we can pick up a big time receiver in the draft and Griffin will see even more open looks.
He really surprised me with his athletism and run after catch ability. Wish I could've found his highlights vs the Redskins. 5 targets. 5 receptions. 109 receiving yards. 1 TD.
Because he's been in the league 3 seasons. How do you label a player a solid talent or successful NFL player when he's played all of 3 seasons, one of which was cut drastically short with injuries already.
Patrick Mahomes says hello after 3 years (only played 2). Nick Boss recorded 47 tackles, 25 QB hits and 9 sacks as only a rookie and says hello. The list goes on and on and after only 3 years Jamal Adams says hello as well with 2 Pro-Bowls and 1 First-team All-Pro selection. And Tom Brady had 2 SB's after his first 3 years. Etc. Etc. In regards to Marcus Maye he's been awesome for us. Played all 16 games both his rookie year and all 16 games last year during his 3rd season and one of the best deep Safety's in coverage within the league and covers a lot of ground. Ever since Marcus Maye arrived you no longer see us getting smoked and beat deep for 50-60-70-80-90 yard bombs as in years past. The best thing about Maye is that he covers so much ground out in Center field which allows Jamal Adams the freedom of roaming our entire defense while causing havoc everywhere. I never knew that younger players couldn't be considered as a solid talent/successful players during their first 3 years? That's news to me. I'll disagree because I know NFL GM's look @ the game much differently, than you do. Put Mahomes, Jamal Adams and Nick Boss on the trade block today and intelligent GM's who know their value and true worth will have them locked up long term by tomorrow. JD releases Marcus Maye today and an intelligent GM looking for a great FS in coverage will scoop up Marcus Maye faster than you could say 'by tomorrow'. Not really understanding your thought process here... Marcus Maye is an absolute stud in Center field.
And what do those guys all have in common? None of them came from Florida. You're comparing Jamal Adams, Mahomes, Nick Bosa, etc to Marcus Maye and Brian Poole lmao I'm not going to continue this argument. It's a widely seen phenomenon in the football world. Florida Gators players never pan out. And there's a lot of data to prove it. Naming two no names on any other roster is not the exception to the rule.
Here, have at it!
