Personally, I think the Jets go for defense in the first two rounds, and pick up a couple DL's or LB's. I think we will address the running back, offensive line and secondary issue in the free agency or trade market (Clinton Portis, Michael Turner, Eric Steinbach, Asante Samuel). I would look for the us to have LaMarr Woodley fall right into our laps.

I like Quinn Pitcock. I think he's a prototypical 3-4 end and a grinder. I'm anxious to see how he works out.

I would love Woodley in the first and Carriker/DT with the first second rounder. Another possibility in the first round is Levi Brown. With him, we would solidify our tackle spots for 10 years, but I think we need defense more. Also, if Justin Blalock--OG --is there with the first second rounder do you think about taking him?

I have a feeling that Leonard from Rutgers will be on this team. Not an early draft pick, but I just have a feeling.

if Woodley is there, they should grab him. Thomas and Woodley coming off the edge = harassment.

if Bush and Woodley are there, i think you still take Woodley because there's less risk involved.

i'm not sure where most teams will have Woodley rated on their draft board, especially after the Combine; but i don't see him lasting until our R2,#5 pick.

    cheers

I would absolutely love to see this Defense next year:

    DE - Shaun Ellis
    DT - Dewayne Robertson
    DE - LaMarr Woodley

    OLB - Adalius Thomas
    ILB - Jonathan Vilma
    ILB - Eric Barton
OLB - Bryan Thomas (Hobson spelling)

    CB - Asante Samuel
SS - Erik Coleman (he needs to do some serious conditioning in the offseason)
    FS - Kerry Rhodes
    CB - Andre Dyson

That defense is bound to drive o-lines and quarterbacks N-U-T-S nuts nuts nuts!

looks good, except Woodley would play OLB. he's definitely not a 3-4 DE. so that means, either find a DE or an NT and slide D-Rob over to DE and replace Adalius Thomas with Woodley.

    cheers

I thought about that, and you are probably right. But I really want Adalius Thomas on this team and the only way I could make it make sense was if Woodley played D-End. Maybe....

    DE - Shaun Ellis
    DT - Dewayne Robertson
    DE - Adalius Thomas
    OLB - LaMarr Woodley
    ILB - Jonathan Vilma
    ILB - Eric Barton
    OLB - Bryan Thomas

    That won't work either

You guys need to realize that a DE for us in the 3-4 is pretty much like an athletic DT in the 4-3......we're talking 290-300 lb + guys

look at 3-4 teams around the league and look at their DE's.....Luis Castillo and Igor Olshansky on the Chargers would be DT's in a 4-3.....Seymour on the Pats is a DE, but would also probably play DT in the 4-3

I agree man. He is a great character guy, and is a prototypical mangini type player.

Where do you think Adalius Thomas would fit in our defense?

The same place he fits in Baltimore's defense, at OLB

You can't have Woodley and Thomas and Thomas playing anywhere but LB. If you really want Adalius then suggest someone else like Adam Carriker or Jamaal Anderson to play DE.

A very good player, but I am not interested at throwing serious $ and a long-term contract at a 30 year old player. 30 has become the age that players most often start their slide. If we were one player away or all we needed to do was to solidify our pass rush I would be much more open to signing him..

I'm MUCH more interested in signing Nate Clements (DB-Buf) who is only 27 years old. He has proven to be SOLID, all around, corner that is very close to being a true shut down corner. One more year of developement and he will, IMO, be the complete shut down corner that nall teams crave....

I like the mock draft on that site. If the first two picks of the real draft are Russell and Quinn, that's a good start. Only pick I don't agree with is Houston taking Peterson. I don't see them taking a RB. They have 3-4 RBs, all of which showed some skills this season and they have bigger problems to worry about. But I like seeing Woodley fall to the Jets.

Also, I don't like any plans that involve benching Hobson. He was one of the 3 or 4 best players on the D this season. Why bench him?

Maybe Patrick Willis to replace Barton if he's not resigned. They gotta get a new NT though.

I'd go with OLB Lamar Woodley at #25 and hopefully DE Adam Carricker at #37. So:

    DE: Shaun Ellis-David Ball
    NT: DeWayne Robertson-Sione Pouha-Rashard Moore
    DE: Adam Carricker-Kimo Von Ohloffen

    OLB: Lamar Woodley/Victor Hobson
    ILB: Eric Barton-Brad Kassell
    ILB: Jonathan Vilma- Anthony Schlegal
    OLB: Bryan Thomas

That'd be nice IMO. If we get another NT (Terdell Sands), that'd be great.

Barton isn't a free agent this coming offseason. Vilma-Barton-Hobson-Kassell-Schlegal. Those are 5 quality ILB we have. I know Hobson plays OLB, but he's capable of playing inside IMO.

There's no way that either Carriker or Blalock fall to the second. Actually they will probably go before Woodley. We would have a better chance of of getting Woodley in the second than they other guys.
