Take Vince Young at #4 & DT Watson at # 29 in 1st round . I believe Jets' will be in excellent position for duration of draft & season with these moves. At #35 draft best OL available... What ya think ?
If the Jets did that I would throw up, and not because I was :drunk: because I would HATE that draft.
NO WAY We have much bigger needs in OT, C, DE/OLB, even RB. D'rob will do fine as NT, he took on double blocks all of last year playing beside James Reed. they also have pope and pouha. We can get a QB next year. Ramsey, Penny, Bollinger will be fine
They were talking about Gabe Watson on NFL network today and that his working ability mioght drop him out of day one. I doubt that because he has first round ability and someone will take a flyer on him. I dont want Vince at #4 but wouldnt mind it. My dream day one would be 1-Mario Williams ( or maybe Leinart if he ever would fall), 1aBobby Carpenter 2Nick Mangold 3aCallaghan 3bJason Avant
It says 4.8 on nfldraftcountdown.com but says 4.55 here: http://football.about.com/od/nationalfootballleague/p/jasonavant.htm. I watched him play quite a few times and I thought he was a solid receiver, he's definitely a possesion guy but he was Michigan's go to guy on 3rd down
That strategy would be ok, but do you honestly expect the new regime to take an unconventional QB like Young? I doubt they do. Mario Williams or D'Brickashaw Ferguson are becoming the more obvious picks by the day and I have no problem with that. As for Gabe Watson, I would like him as our 3-4 NT, but I don't consider that a big enough need, nor do I think he will be available. I at 29 (depending on who we pick) we will either select Bobby Carpenter or Nick Mangold... If we take Brick at 4 we will try for Carpenter at 29... If we take Mario Williams at 4 we will try for Mangold at 29... the 29th pick depends on alot...who we take at 4 and who falls...
these threads are getting outta hand, man I can't wait for the draft to GET here already. maybe then some of the crap that is being passed for threads will die down.
He can play outside Lb in the 3-4. Im not sure on this but arent our 4 LB's right in the 3-4 Olb Barton, ? ( maybe Chatham right now) ILB Vilma, Hobson
I see Vilma, Brown, Barton, McClover, Myers as outside LB's.... Inside : Hobson, A.J. Hawk ?, Chatman, Last thing Jets' need as a priority is an outside LB.
We need FOR SURE: Center and Offensive Tackle We SHOULD GET : Running Back, Defensive End, Defensive Tackle
Run n Gun everyone has heard so many times about your "If we draft Vince Young then the O Line will fix itself" stratergy but im sorry i definately dont agree with you
Yea thats an accurate assessment. I like Vilma at the outside, McClover as a backup which I hope that does get lost in the new defensive system. Mark Brown is a free agent or last I checked he was, and Hobson is best suited in the inside. No clue on Chatham but he probably lacks the speed to be an outside guy. I love how you just slipped AJ Hawk in there:breakdance: thats real nice
How about this for a winning formula? #4- D'Brickashaw Ferguson #29- Bobby Carpenter or Thomas Howard (Pass rushing OLB) #35- Max Jean Gilles Then will the much added beef to our OL...start Cedric Houston and give him the ball 20 times a game...we would KILL defenses wit that kind of power football... LT- D'Brickashaw Ferguson LG- Max Jean-Gilles C- Pete Kendall RG- Brandon Moore RT- either Jones or a FA
