amongst others, according to about a million people on Twitter.

Now it's officially the rookies running the show in the secondary.

    They will keep Pryor likely.

There's no reason to cut him this year.

Cutting Gilchrist makes sense. He was serviceable at best. This way we save $4,625,000 (OverTheCap). If I'm understanding it right, Pryor's money is already guaranteed and he's a good backup at worst. Plus he only costs $2.75m.

I liked Gilly but under the circumstances with the inj & rebuild he had to go. now lets go get some depth at CB, LB & OL. Just looking at a list of available free agents and a few of these guys might be worth looking at if the price isn't too high. Some of these guys are getting a little older but any affordable FA is going to have some flaws or down side at this point in the off-season.

1 Jason McCourty CB TEN 30
2 Tramaine Brock CB SF 29
5 Gerald Hodges ILB SF 26
6 Perry Riley ILB OAK 29
    8 DeAndre Levy 4-3 OLB DET 30
    10 Austin Pasztor G CLE 26
    13 Paul Kruger 3-4 OLB NO 31
15 LeGarrette Blount RB NE 30
16 Gary Barnidge TE CLE 31
    17 Andrew Tiller G SF 28
18 Alterraun Verner CB TB 28
    19 Tre Boston S CAR 25
20 Sam Shields CB GB 29
    21 Aaron Williams S BUF 27
    22 Devin Taylor 4-3 DE DET 27
    23 Corey Graham S BUF 32
    24 Jairus Byrd S NO 30
25 Sio Moore ILB ARI 27
    26 Daimion Stafford S TEN 26
28 Jared Odrick DT JAX 29
    32 Erik Walden 3-4 OLB IND 32

Is Shields absolutely done? I know he has had like 4 concussions

"I'm thinking it's not over," Shields said. "I've still got more in me.

Gilchrist was a great pickup at the time, but he quickly lost a step, then the entire staircase. I'm curious to know how involved he was with defensive field calls and who is going fill that void. Maybe David Harris is still making most of them, his snap count has stayed very high. Can't count on him much longer at his age....

Harris will keep making the snap counts. He's a smart vet even though he's lost a step or two to the sidelines. With the new secondary and good support from the linebackers and corners, our defense has got both younger and tougher. I like the way we're going. Gilchrist was done and Pryor never cut the mustard.

Saw this coming with the two high safety picks. Not a bad thing, we clear over 4 million in cap, and the two young guns get to see the field a bunch. What happens with Pryor will be interesting. They declined his 5th year option and if I had to guess they will probably hold on to him for the year and cut him next offseason.

I thought Darron Lee started taking over those responsibilities?

AS others stated he played well one year and last year played poorly at best. Thanks for your limited contributions and the mess last year.

I hope that's true. I hope he's hanging on David Harris' every word.

He had a good year in 2015. Guess it wasnt ment to be. Im not heartbroken over it. I did believe he should have gotten another year but if it puts us in a better spot financially, with 2 new safeties that can play the position, I guess we're good.

...Can we coax Jim Leonard out of retirement?

Jack Del Rio on NFLTA just said that the Raiders are still on the hunt for a veteran linebacker to complete their roster. He said they are ready to explore every avenue (i.e., waiver wire and trades). I hope Mac is paying attention. This can be an opportunity to unload David Harris and get compensated.

It wasn't a miscue at all. He had a very good first year and then had a major injury in his second year. If we didn't collapse last year and weren't clearly in rebuild mode, Gilchrist would be on the roster.

I'm really surprised by this, but really like it and think it was the right thing to do.

Nope, he's loving his new job as DC at Wisconsin and he still looks like a kid.

Good move. Now keep getting rid of any dead weight that got toasted last year aka the entire secondary.

Why? He's old and slow and wasn't that good before. His only plus was that he knew Rex's D.

If Pryor got twice as good he could be a backup
