    It's a non-story but, hey, it's the off-season.

Would have liked them to have signed him earlier, but no need now.

I wouldn't call it a non story...the jets expressed some level of interest in him and he remains unsigned.

We have some young guys on the roster who are "learning". I would like a three headed monster on Green, McKnight, and Benson. Cedric can pick up a blitz, run between the tackles and outside, and can pass catch. He is a good pick-up; at a vet min....something he needs to grasp

I wouldn't mind bringing in a Ryan Grant or a Cedric Benson if Ganaway or Powell are not up to the task during TC.
(which could very much be the case...)

Hopefully Powell benefits from having a full off-season and shows something!

If the Jets checked him out before the draft, didn't sign him, then drafted ANOTHER RB with 3 already on the roster, the chances of them signing Benson are roughly 0%.

Not to mention Tebow is basically a RB.

I didnt see anything said about it being before the draft that we checked on him. Draft was Spring, not "earlier in the summer"

Powell is a big what if...id rather see Benson who is proven in the NFL he'd compliment this RB group here.

I see, I read it as being "way earlier in the offseason". I'd love him over Powell who I feel doesn't bring much to the table.

"Benson made it pretty clear he doesn't want to accept a veteran minimum deal. I told him that's a mistake."

Adam Schein is such a prick.

I was just gonna comment on that, I call bullshit. There's no way that pussy Schein said that to Cedric Benson's face. Why would he even tweet a lie like that? To make himself look tough? He's always been a jackass..

With LT gone, an RB who can catch the football would be a nice addition to the offense.

im ready to go into the season with what we got. we have enough guys that someone else will break through. greene cant carry the load himself but if mcknight steps up and ganaway works out we can have a hell of a backfield, with or without powell. but dont count him out either, just because he was nonexistent last year, a rookie runningback with no training camp is basically dead in the water. give him a chance.

The Jets never seem to make the move we think they should make. We think they should go get player A and they go get Tim Tebow. We think they should draft player B and they draft Vlad Ducasse. We think they should upgrade right tackle and they announce last seasons disaster as our starter. Jets badly need a cover safety and they sign 2 safetys that cant cover. Hmmmmm. When does it end. They better be successful this season because all these moves that they make that go against the grain need to pay off or Oh Tannenbaum might be Tannengone!

personally, i'd like the jets to develop a runningback

i think McKnight and Ganaway will be a good 1-2 punch in the future. unless of course Shonn decides to step it up anytime soon.... which would be nice too.

I mean I do this too, but it is much easier to criticize after the fact. Most fans wanted Tanny to go in and improve the O line, specifically the RT position and that didn't happen. Also not the best examples on a "project" pick and someone who hasn't played a snap for the Jets.

The Jets are always linked to every player. Tanny does his due diligence looking at everyone. One of the reasons I believe we were able to swing trades for Braylon and Tone, sign Plax and Lt and etc etc. Obviously some stuff are hit and miss but he makes sure he knows all the possibilites. Whether he picks the right one is up for debate
