Ok, so what's up a Clemens trade? "Jets acquired QB Kevin O'Connell from the Lions in exchange for undisclosed compensation." per rotoworld
...really? Something must be up with Kellen Clemens, because Erik Ainge had a solid pre-season. I hope Ainge isn't replace by O'Connell.
There has got to be something going on with Clemens. They have expressed how much they like Ainge and this is now their second attempt at a quarterback. I have to expect a Clemens trade? Risky in my mind. I like Eric Ainge but would like Clemens' experience for one more year as the backup...
Clemens in a package deal for Marshall? Neither of Denver's QBs are all that healthy. Just speculating away.
I love the idea of bringing in Kevin O'Connell, as I thought the Pats gave up on him too soon. He has a ton of potential and could develop into a solid backup. Although I think Clemens is the best backup we have right now, it may very well be time to cut ties with him. Hopefully we can pick up a late rounder.
Possible, but it seemed rather clear that Denver was seeking defensive help above all else. I can't imagine they'd want one of our 7 CBs lol.
I don't know about him being cut after week three. With O'Connell on our sideline, he can help out the defensive coaching staff during both New England games. If we "acquired" him, he's not going to be cut.
ps that suck anyways... ajfeely became a FA and there were some other guys out there... why the fuck did we trade for this guy?! idiotic move Unless a blockbster trade for Marshall is being set up...
We will trade clemens / B Smith a 2nd and 3rd for Marshall. Thye need QB depth and smith wil also help on their weak special teams unit Mark it down !!
Not to hope he slips through to the PT. A bunch of teams put in claims on him when NE cut him this week.
Oh the suspense waiting for the other shoe to drop.... Can't see Clemens going to Cleveland though. That makes no sense.
I don't get it. We have Sanchez, Clemens and Ainge. Clemens is a good backup to say the least. Ainge looked excellent in the preseason. Then why would u 'trade' for Kevin? I will be super pissed if we gave up anything more than a 7th or a 6th rounder.
Maybe they'll just release Clemens, call it a bust, and let his fate end up like the rest of these former "future faces of the franchise" - Blair Thomas, Browning Nagle, Johnny Mitchell, etc. etc. etc. Clemens hasn't even proved he can even be a capable backup therefore he has zero trade value. (Would you trade a 6th round pick that you haven't seen play a single down for a player that couldn't earn a starting job - two years in a row with every advantage in the world going for him? There's more hope with the unseen player.) The Jets can release him today, and let other teams take the additional gamble on his career without any egg on their face, and no hard feelings with Clemens, because they're letting him dictate his own future, like they did with Chad. It's classier to release a guy at this point, than to try and squeeze a team for what becomes a practice squad player or summer camp release.
Clemens to Cleveland makes no sense whatsoever. But it makes a tiny bit of sense in Denver. I'm just sayin'...
