I would like Peterson at #3. I think he is going to be extremely good.

    Other notes:
    1) I would hate seeing Quinn go to the Bills. I like Quinn alot, and wouldnt like him to go see him in the division if he isn't a Jet
    2) Lynch to the Broncos would be a great pick for them all the way at 27.

That's just so sad that they would make a mock draft already...I mean, I could understand rankings, but a mock draft before the NFL season starts?

I actually think there is a 0% chance of us drafting a RB in the first round next year. I would be willing to wager money on it. My reasoning is simple. We invested a pick already in a RB in Barlow and I think he will at the very least be serviceable. I think Blaylock will be gone by next draft and maybe even Houston. Washington will still make for an exciting enough player that him and Barlow should be able to at least not be a weakness. Another reason is this, we have a lot of holes that can be filled in the next draft. Pass rusher, NT, WR, and DE. I think we have to look at one of the top two DEs in Moses and Adams or maybe even Posluszny. I think we also have to look at one of the big WRs that may be in the draft, Johnson, Jarrett, Rice. But the main reason is RB is probably the easiest position to fill. You can get a great RB in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th round and most rookie running backs can step right in and play, they don't need a couple years to get up to speed like the WRs do. Also, Running Backs have the shortest careers so why get one before we fill our other holes?
So why not get a good WR or pass rusher next year and build our team some more and then get us a true #1 RB in the following draft or free agency?

Sorry Rambo I have to disagree. I think Tangini will be looking to see whos going to be available on FAs. Next draft we are going to get a franchise back. I do however agree that Blaylock and Houston may be gone , Barlow IMHO is not an every down back but a very good back-up , or as we will use him, running a selection of 3 backs. You site that RB is an easy roster spot to fill and in recent years that has been the case , but this year the quality of RBs available has been woefull . We could still pick up a decent NT in round 3 or 4. We do still have 2 round twos.

Maybe I misspoke. I don't think we should draft a RB in the 1st round next year, but you are right, we probably will. If you mean next draft is woeful at RB I agree. I think Peterson can be a good RB, but I am not sold on him. We'll see what he does this year with everyone keyingin on him. To me he doesn't seem very fast or good in the passing game. Lynch is JAG in Tedford's running back machine until he proves otherwise. One of the SEC backs could surprise, but I think they are more late 1st early 2nd like Addai was.

The reason they do mock drafts is so most normal fans can understand where certain prospects are rated this early in the process. Mocks in general are pretty pointless because they will never actually be right, but that's what people want to see, so that's what the draft sites put out.

As for the actual pick of Peterson, I'd love it. Peterson would be my #1 preference of any player eligible for this draft, he's a back with close to zero negatives. He runs with power, has good speed, powerful legs, makes great cuts, and he's been making great strides in both of the things that limited him a bit as a freshman, receiving out of the backfield and changing his ball hand on the run. To me, AD is the ideal franchise back, good and strong enough to carry the offense on his back for years.

If we have a Top 5 and Barlow somehow becomes a 1,000+ yard rusher this season, we should just trade that pick and try to get 2 first rounders again...

for me, i dont care that much about wins this season as i do getting a RB that stands out above the rest...whether it be blaylock, barlow, houston or whoever.

if we get one that looks like he shows promise...we wont need to draft and rb and could try to trade down to take one of the recieveing playmakers (ted ginn like)
