We went from 9th overall to 33rd overall but added 2 2nd rounders, a 3rd and 3 4th's plus a future 1st rounder. We may not get an elite talent but we will instill a ton of depth into the team for the future Day 2 2nd Round- 3 Picks Matt Elam, Safety, Florida, 5’10 202- Elam will complete our Elite secondary. He adds another playmaker to go along with Revis, Cromartie and Landry. Elam and Landry are both hard hitters and have a nose for the ball. Elam is under rated in coverage as well. Jawan Jamison, Running Back, Rutgers, 5’8 200- Jamison should look to add 5-10 pounds just to become what many think is the next Ray Rice. He has excellent vision, makes plays in both the run game and pass game and will pound the rock and fight for yards Larry Warford, Offensive Guard, Kentucky, 6’3 343- Warford is the mauler we need in between Mangold and Howard. He will help us establish the run and he’s also reliable in pass protection. A little slow footed but going one on one with DT’s should hide that weakness. 3rd Round- 2 Picks Travis Kelce, Tight End, Cincinnati, 6’5 260- Along with establishing the run to open up the passing game we need a real tight end. Kelce is my favorite dual threat TE. He’s a worker and is improving every day. So much I think he can slide into the 2nd Round. He blocks with force and knows how to use his body to catch difficult passes. Kyle Long, Offensive Tackle, Oregon, 6’7 312- Long is a developmental pick that could also slide up into the 2nd Round. However he’s extremely raw but has elite measurables and the NFL bloodline. *Jets trade 4th, 6th and 7th Round Pick to move into 3rd Round* Current Picks- 3, 4(TB),4,4(CIN),4(BAL),5(JAX),5,6,7 Brandon Jenkins, DE/OLB, Florida State, 6’3 260- Jenkins has yet to heal from the lisfranc injury he suffered in September. His workouts will go a long way in providing his draft stock but right now I like the value. He’ll add so much needed speed and youth to our line backing corps. Jenkins will hopefully return to his old self and give us a pass rushing threat. Day 3 Round 4- 4 Picks Marcus Davis, Wide Receiver, Virginia Tech, 6’4 232- Davis is a physical WR, with elite athleticism. Still learning the position and raw even though he’s a redshirt Sr. which will make him available this late. However, he’s going to be a nice addition at WR after a year of pro coaching and will make a great duo with Stephen Hill if both reach their potential. Kiko Alonso, Inside Linebacker, Oregon, 6’3 242- Alonso will add great depth to our ILB corps. Alonso will replace Harris in our subpackages and add speed and cover ability. Is he a long term replacement for an aging and expensive Harris, idk but he’s good depth and value Michael Buchanan, DE/OLB, Illinois, 6’5 240- Buchanan is a developmental pick who will likely see limited snaps this year barring injury. I don’t see him as a long term starter but valuable is sub packages and special teams. Braxston Cave, C, Notre Dame, 6’3 305- Cave is a value pick right now. Mangold is getting up there but still elite and it would be nice to start grooming his replacement even if that’s 5-7 years from now. Cave comes from a winning program with a great coach who coaches his linemen. Round 5- 2 Picks Joe Kruger, Defensive End, Utah, 6’6 280- Kruger is a little light to play DE in a 3-4 and will likely have to add 10-15 pounds to hold up inside. However, he has NFL bloodlines and will be a nice developmental pick to replace an aging DeVito in a year or 2 Zach Line, Fullback, SMU, 6’1 230- Line is going to start from day 1 for us. He opens up running room, can carry the ball and is even a solid pass protector. He’s a steal in round 5 Round 6- 1 Pick Zac Stacy, Runningback, Vanderbilt, 5’9 210- value pick at RB. Stacy will have to earn a spot over the RB’s ahead of him on the depth chart but hopefully keep 4 or 5 or sneak him onto the PS Round 7- 1 Pick Brad Wing, Punter, LSU, 6’2 197- Wing is the best Punter in the draft and may go earlier than this but who knows. Malone is good but competition never killed anyone Undrafted Free Agents Sean Renfree, Quarterback, Duke, 6’4 225 Quanterus Smith, DE/OLB, Western Kentucky 6’5 248 Demetrius McCray, Cornerback, Appalachian State 6’0 182 Jasper Collins, Wide Receiver, Mount Union, 5'11 190 2013 New York Jets Roster QB Alex Smith Mark Sanchez Greg McElroy Matt Simms Sean Renfree RB Shonn Greene Bilal Powell Joe McKnight Jawan Jamison Zac Stacy Zach Line WR/TE Santonio Holmes Braylon Edwards Stephen Hill Jeremy Kerley Jordan White Marcus Davis Jasper Collins Hayden Smith Josh Baker Delanie Walker Travis Kelce OL Nick Mangold D'Brickashaw Ferguson Matt Slauson Austin Howard Vlad Ducasse Caleb Schlauderaff Dennis Landolt Larry Warford Braxston Cave Travis Long DL Muhammad Wilkerson Quinton Coples Sione Pouha Kenrick Ellis Mike DeVito Damon Harrison Joe Kruger LB David Harris Demario Davis Antwan Barnes Garrett McIntyre Ricky Sapp Josh Mauga Brandon Jenkins Kiko Alonso Michael Buchanan Quanterus Smith DB Darrelle Revis Antonio Cromartie Laron Landry Yeremiah Bell Kyle Wilson Ellis Lankster Aaron Berry Josh Bush Isaiah Trufant Matt Elam Demetrius McCray ST Nick Folk Robert Malone Tanner Purdum Brad Wing
continued Off-Season Notes Offense- I wanted to bring in a true competitor for Sanchez. Him and Smith will battle in camp and likely Smith walks out as the starter. Smith has a better arm and has protected the ball better than Mark the past 2 years. Geep Chryst will take over the offensive play calling and I feel that will help our passing game a ton. Jamison will take over at starting RB later in the year while we develop the line. Greene/Powell/Jamison will split carries while Stacy waits until we release Greene if he doesn't show more burst in his carries. By 2014 Jamison/Powell/Stacy will be our 3 headed monster with Jamison and Stacy taking most of the carries and Powell plays the 3rd down back role. Zach Line will also be used in a ton of ways to create mismatches and will get 2-5 carries a game. At receiver Holmes/Edwards/Kerley will start while Hill and Davis continue to develop. White will be the back up slot or we'll put Holmes there and move Hill to the outside. We're going to mix it up and try to attack the defense over the top sending Braylon and Hill long and opening up the field for Kerley and Holmes. Kelce and Walker compliment each other well. Kelce is a complete TE while Walker will be used to create mismatches. The starting O-Line is Brick at LT, Slauson and Ducasse will compete at LG, Mangold at C, Warford at RG and Howard will get another year at RT while Long develops at RT. Cave will back up Mangold while Schlauderaff is a back up G and Landolt backs up Brick. Defense- Wilkerson and Coples will be the DE in our base D will play all over the line. Pouha will be a 1-2 down player and Ellis will get more snaps this year. DeVito will also be used a ton mainly at DT in our sub packages and in short situations. Kruger will be a reserve similar to Marcus Dixon and will mainly be developed into a rotational player after adding weight and strength. He'll be Coples primary back up however. At LB we're still not we're I hope to be but with a ton of stud pass rushers int he 2014 draft I think we've taken a good step. Barnes and Jenkins(if healthy) will start at OLB and right there we're already more athletic than last year. McIntyre will rotate with them to keep Jenkins healthy and Ricky Sapp will be our DPR for long situations. Inside Harris and Davis will start, Alonso will see time in sub packages and Mauga(if healthy) should add good depth. Buchanan and Smith will be developed, Smith will be on the PS while Buchanan will be inactive most days unless we're dealing with injuries At DB Revis is back and fully healthy. Cromartie should look to continue his dominance while Wilson and Berry will be our dime and Nickel. Lankster is a reserves and ST's guy and McCray will be developed to be a future dime back. Landry, Bell and Elam will rotate while Elam learns the playbook and we want to keep Landry healthy and Bell is pushing 35 as we speak. Bush will also be used but not much as he continues to learn Special Teams- Folk will be the kicker until otherwise while Wing and Malone battle at Punter. Wing likely wins out so bye Malone. McKnight returns kicks with Jasper Collins also getting sometime back there to spell Joe. Kerley and Wilson will handle punt returns and Purdum will be the long snapper Thank you for reading this long mock but I put a ton of work into it and hope guys give me some very insightful feedback. enjoy
I would be ecstatic if this happened, but it's a pipe dream. No way KC would give up their future #1 to move back up. If they did, we could be looking at a Clowney/Bridgewater 2014 draft.
I think we'd be lucky to get a six for Teblow. Love the personnel moves. But I think the new GM will want a stud with his first draft pick and not make Trader Mike seem passive. One trade back is realistic, three is not. Then again you said it wasn't in preface.
Like this draft a ton gives us a year to develop these rookies while next year we come out of the draft with our franchise qb in bridgewater and an all pro de in clowney
LOVE the idea of Geep Chryst being OC. I've been hoping to see his name on our short list since before the Gamble rumors... now it seems like it could definitely happen. He's had some play-calling duties in SF, especially in the end zone, and IMO that is the offense we should be modeling our's after if we don't have too many changes personnel-wise (The Alex Smith version, anyway). Also really like the Long, Waford, and Jenkins picks. And picking Wing in the 7th would be a solid move, even though a lot of people would be pissed. A good punter goes a long way, and we haven't had one in far too long. My only criticism would be that if we were to grab all of those extra picks, we could find a way to trade up in the 2nd/late 1st to grab Gio. The guy is a stud and will be a star sooner rather than later. I like Jamison too, but Gio would be able to come in and contribute right away.
This looks like fantasy land The Revis contract isnt realistic at all Franchise tagging Dustin Keller is a grossly stupid waste of money. And I believe you have a fundamental misunderstanding of roster bonuses/cap space. And all the trades are nuts, I really dunno what else to say
Brad Wing is good, I'd like that a lot. That trade with KC could never happen. I wish it could, but it can't. Baltimore is late first round, and KC would not give up their first round pick next year to move up 2-8 spots. I'd be pumped as hell though to get the cheifs first round pick next year. I'd watch every single one of their games in the race for us to get the first pick!
thanks for the input guys, much appreciated I guess you have comprehension problems, I said I'm no expert I tried to have to Chiefs jumping in front of New England, Green Bay and Atlanta- all teams who could take a T late in the draft. If they go with Geno.
I understand that you are no expert, and neither are any of us really because we dont work for NFL teams, but some of this stuff does seem like fantasy sports... It may just be me, but I prefer just a straight up mock. I hate this full offseason mock with hiring of coaches and FA signings. I understand some of it does come into play when making a draft, but it just makes it seem like non of it is possible. Give me a straight up mock with maybe one or two trades at most and one or two signings and focus on the players in the draft; thats what this forum is about. I really dont think those trades are very realistic- trading back in any draft is hard, let alone in a draft like this that doesnt really have a great 1st round crop. Im not going to speak much on the restructures and resigning because I dont know much about it, but I doubt Revis take that contract. I fully expect him to want to be the highest paid defensive player in the NFl. With that said, I do like some of the players you targeted though- Warford, Jamison, Long and Stacy are my favorites. Would love to have them on this team. Elam is a great player, but I just dont think safety is that big of a need... Warford is a great player and a top 2nd round target of mine. Jamison is my 2nd favorite RB in this class and Long projects very well. Stacy is one of those players that I can see coming in and producing at the next level; could be a late round gem. If we ended up with Jamison, Stacy AND Line, Shonn Greene would serve no purpose on this team. Kiko Alonso is also a nice player that would be a nice mid round pick.
appreciate the feedback dude and will take it into consideration when doing 3.0 Warford and Jamison would help our run game immensely which is why I targeted them early. Elam is a stud and with Landry having durability issues and Bell at 35 getting a young stud back there is a must Long would be a helluva pick up if he reaches his potential Stacy is being mocked so late in the draft I hope we pull the trigger. Line is also a nice pick up Kiko is good depth I think too. I brought back Greene to use him where he's used best, late in the season, late in games. Using Greene to maintain the durability of Jamison, Stacy and Powell would be great for their futures 3.0 coming in 7 days
If youre not an expert, then keep it simple. Most people arent. As the other guy said you included all kinds of crazy unnecessary stuff (ie incorrect ramifications of contract renegotiation) I mean we could sign Smith Barnes Walker (not unrealistic moves) There are bad mocks on here that you can take things away/learn from. But when you have too much craziness it becomes science fiction
I love the way Matt Elam plays but a safety isn't a big need in the second, third maybe. I like Philip Thomas out of Fresno State. Revis won't get 100 million and I think we would have a better chance at getting Vernon Davis than Delanie Walker, even since Kaepernick took over VD has been non-existent.
After doing a Google search (I had no clue who the hell he was either) he is the QB coach of the 49ers.
