The New York Jets hire Scott Fitterer as the new General Manager

Fitterer has final say on all roster decisions including free agency, trades and draft picks.

The New York Jets fire Tony Sparano as Offensive Coordinator, Mike Pettine as Defensive Coordinator and Mike Westoff retires as Special Teams coach

The New York Jets fire Dave DeGuglielmo(O-Line coach), Matt Cavanaugh(QB Coach) and Mike Devlin(TE Coach and Asst O-Line coach)

    New Coordinators and Asst. Coaches

OC- Adam Gase current Broncos QB Coach- I think Gase has learned so much from Manning and McCoy about offense and the QB postion he can lead an offense of his own. With the right personnel I can see us being very successful with him at OC with control over the system.

DC- Ken Norton Jr. current Seahawks LB's Coach- Seattle's LB's are just stout and Norton has history with USC LB's Clay Matthews and Brian Cushing. I can see him along with Rex's expertise and our other great defensive coaches taking our defense to the next level

QB Coach- Chad Pennington, I think Chad should be a member of this organization. He can help develop young QB's and be a mentor to guys coming in.

O-Line Coach- Russ Grimm current Cardinals O-Line coach. I think they revamp the whole staff so Grimm becomes a FA. He's the catalyst of the deadly Steelers run game from 01-06 but it never translated to Arizona where they focused more on airing it out. He can come here and help establish the run and protect whoever our QB is going to be.

TE Coach- Jason Michael, former Jets TE coach and Quality control for us. I see the entire SD staff gone with Andy Reid likely taking over and building his own fortress.

    Salary Cap
    Project Cap- 12M
    Jets Current Cap- 141M
    Rollover- 5M
    Cap Space- -15M

    Cuts and Savings
    Bart Scott- 7M
    Calvin Pace- 8.5M
    Eric Smith- 3M
    Jason Smith- 12M
    Total Savings after cuts- 30.5M

    Cap Space- 15.5M

Restructures and Savings(note: I am not an expert with this but I think I got the hang of it seeing other mocks)
David Harris- converts half of his cap hit to a roster bonus, saves 6.5M
Darrelle Revis- signs extension, 7 years/77M, 35M Guaranteed, 5M signing bonus, cap hit for 2013 down to 6M, saves 3M
Antonio Cromartie- 2014 salary becomes guaranteed for him restructing his deal making half of his 2013 salary a roster bonus, saves 5.5M
Sione Pouha- turns his 2013 salary into a roster bonus similar to what Brick did last year, saves 6M
    Total Savings after restructuring- 21M

Cap Space for Free Agency- 36.5M with 5M aside for Draft Picks gives us 31.5M in cap space

    Other FA's
    Jared Cook, Titans TE
    Antwan Barnes, Chargers OLB
    Total- 5M

    Trades
Dustin Keller to Tampa Bay for a 4th Round Pick- saves 6M
Tim Tebow to Jacksonville for a 5th Round Pick and a 7th Round pick- saves 2.5M- full contract goes to Jax
    Total- 8.5M

leftover cap room- 5M for draft picks and 11.5M for future moves

We keep it short with other FA's as our main objective is to get younger and less expensive, a TE and OLB help us short and hopefully long term and the 2 trades give us some mid round picks for depth.

    Draft

New York Jets trade their 1st round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals for their 1st, 2nd(OAK) and 5th Round picks- Bengals move up for Te'O

    Draft Picks(1(CIN),2(OAK),2,3,4,4,5(JAX),5,5(CIN),7(JAX),7)

Round 1- Jonathan Cooper, Guard, North Carolina 6'3 310- plug Cooper in right at LG and have Ducasse groomed to take over at RG in 2014 behind Moore.

Round 2- Robert Woods, Wide Receiver, USC 6'1 190- we get a weapon for our QB. Woods reminds me of Victor Cruz so the value is fine.

Round 2- Tyler Bray, Quarterback, Tennessee 6'5 215- Bray has a ton of upside and I can see him being very successful if he reaches his potential.

Round 3- DJ Swearinger, Safety, South Carolina 5'11 210- I love his style and his aggressivness. Great young edition to our secondary

Round 4- Mike Gillislee, Running Back, Florida 5'11 210- My favorite running back prospect I think he's going to be a stud as long as splitting carries at the next level

Round 4- Dion Sims, Tight End, Michigan State 6'5 285- I hear he's closer to 270 however. Sims is a stud in both the passing and running game and would be a great compliment to Cook for us.

Round 5- Ryne Giddins, OLB/DE, South Florida 6'3 266- Has yet to declare and most think he's a 2014 prospect but he's eligible and really his stock wont get any higher. He has the size Rex likes and I think he can a stud with our coaching

Round 5- Marcus Lattimore, Running Back, South Carolina 6'0 220- a team might jump at him in round 2, 3 or 4 but the injury may scare some teams especially at RB. He wont be 100% until 2014 but with us having the extra pick I'm all for it

Round 5- Marcus Davis, Wide Receiver, Virginia Tech 6'4 232- He's a physical beast but not the most fluid WR but a great depth player for us.

Round 6- Xavier Nixon, Offensive Tackle, Florida 6'5 314- Developmental pick for us here but he's also good depth for a team lacking it.

Round 7- Michael Mauti, Linebacker, Penn State 6'2 235- Mauti would have been a top 3 round pick but his injury killed that. He's getting healthy and I think he'd be great value this late for us

Round 7- Zach Line, Fullback, SMU 6'1 240- love him, love him, love him

I doubt Revis takes that deal. I have a feeling that he's going to want to see 9 figures after its all said and done, similar to Megatron or Fitz's contract. Just a hunch though.

    Great post.

Loved everything you did besides your draft picks....I wouldn't use a high pick on a qb this year...I would use our picks to rebuild rest of the roster and take our future qb in the next draft....

    Overall very well done.

Robert Woods: "If the coaches wanted to keep me another year, they would’ve probably got me the ball."

    He'll fit right in!!!

Bray is fine, I mean his attitude isn't great but we need a stud and he can be that with the staff I put together

I know but still 35M guaranteed and he'll likely see most of the 77M anyway

our WR corps for the future would be Hill/Woods/Kerley/Davis/White/Cook/Sims

Holmes is gone after this year along with Braylon likely

thanks and I agree, a QB I like next year would be Brett Smith but I think our new GM would take a young QB with talent like Bray and we'd still surround him with a ton of weapons going forward

Bray at QB, Powell/Gillislee/Lattimore 3 headed monster at RB, Line at FB, Hill/Woods/Kerley/Davis/White at WR and Cook/Sims at TE and a line of Ferguson/Cooper/Mangold/Moore(Ducasse)/Howard

We need to use our 1st and 2nd pick on a Guard and Tackle.

Why not did you see what happen with our WR corps this year I don't ever want to see Jason Hill or Clyde Gates again

No we don't we need a Guard and I picked a Tackle late but Howard is still improving and should be fine

    I drafted a guard and a tackle

You don't just find starters in the first 2 rounds that's why we get better scouts

I think your picks are probably a little high. Not sure I'd take a receiver in round 2 unless it was an insane value, and while Woods is good, I don't think he's that. I'd rather go RB, TE, or LB.

Really, I'm just not a big Bray fan. He's got a big arm, but in round 2, I don't trust him.

Well I'll chime in here, going to ignore the FA and contract stuff for now and focus just on the draft aspect.

Not real wild about Cooper, I'd probably do another trade down to be honest, there are a couple of guards who will be available in the late 1st mid to late 2nd that in my opinion aren't that far behind Cooper and may actually turn out to be better.

Not real wild about pick either, He's a fine reciever granted, but I think you can come close to that talent level later in the draft, there are some really good recievers out there that have a few holes that drop them down in the draft. There are a couple of Tackles that should be available there, as well as guards, that can fill nicely.

Love the Bray pick, if his mechanics were better and he didn't have the Maturity question he'd be a sure fire first round pick. I think he's got the best arm in the draft but he too often throws off balance even when he has time he's often throwing off off of his back foot while moving backwards, that lowers his accuracy a lot on pocket throws. He also needs some coaching on pocket movement. Of course he also fits a mold that I prefer in QB's strong arm, fearless, quick to see receivers before they make their break and brash. You can not be a QB in new york and be frail psychologically, you need brass balls and a brash attitude if your going to succeed in NY, you need a swagger...that and I'm a fan of the gunslinger approach to QB's. Just my personal preference, so I love this pick. That said, he's also not a QB I would start from day one, I think he's best served by spending a year doing some subbing and clean up duty at least early on and learning the pro game. He's declared so he will be drafted this year, but I think he would have been better served going another year in college. That said, if he had stayed in college I have little doubt he would have been a top 10 pick in 2014, possibly top 5. To me he's a steal in the second round, just I don't think he will pay off much in 2013, but 2014 I think he'll be a stud starter.

I also love the DJ Swearinger pick, He's been a constant in all my draft mock ups so far, just like Bray. He may even be available as late as the 4th.

I also love the Mike Gillislee pick, He's one of my 2 favorite RB picks in this draft, along with Taylor. I also agree he's explosive but will need a second back to split carries with. An excellent pick in my opinion.

I also love the Lattimore pick later on as a high risk high reward pick if he falls that far, I wouldn't take him earlier due to the knee problems, but that late in the draft I think it's an excellent risk to take considering the high potential reward.

Rest of the picks I really have no personal comment on, though I do kind of like the Marcus Davis pick that late in the draft.

    thanks for the input

Cooper- I picked him because we may lose both of our guards to FA and Cooper is legit. This pick could also be Barrett Jones or another trade down as well but then again if there was a player worth taking there I'd pick him.

Woods- We need another receiver and I wanted one we can put inside and outside pretty much taking place for Holmes in 2014. Woods is a stud there's no denying that and his ability to play outside the numbers, in the slot and make plays after the catch is something we need.

Bray, Swearinger, Gillislee and Lattimore are all studs in my eyes

    as for my other picks

Sims- Big TE, fits what we need
Giddins- developmental pass rusher but has ideal size and speed for a Rex OLB
Nixon- good depth and comes from an established SEC school
Line- great FB prospect who else helps in the run and passing game
Mauti- great LB depth, could start in 2014 if we move Harris and his salary

I'd love this draft as we'd have so much depth and versatility. We'd lack an elite pass rusher and our QB of the future would need grooming but in 2014 I'd go all in for Anthony Barr or hope to be so bad we get Jadeveon Clowney

With those guys our receiving core was atrocious. Hill could use a year on the bench to learn how to run routes and how to catch a fucking football. Kerley is good but he's a slot receiver and let's see if Holmes can come back at 100%. We definitely need another receiver.

I really liked all you did here until the picks, but then thinking about it it would make sense. Hill and Woods could groom this next year behind Holmes and Braylon both splitting snaps behind them all while Pennington grooms Tyler. So then when Sanchez, Holmes, and Braylon are gone, hopefully we'll have a well developed QB, with 2 nice big physical targets also hopefully developed nicely. Add to all that Lattimore coming back healthy and Powell and Gillislee.

Looks good man, hopefully it comes out to something close to this.

There are three guards who intrigue me in that should be available late 1st, through the 3rd rounds, Larry Warford, Alvin Bailey and Gabe Jackson. The latter two need some skill refinement but are experienced and play a solid game. I think Warford potentially is better than any of the projected first round guards except for Warmack.

Tackles I like for the 1st to 3rd round for a right tackle would be Fisher, Aboushi, Fluker and Dallas Thomas, the latter of which could be a possible guard as well ranked around Warford as a guard I think.

WR's I like are Da'rick Rogers in the 2nd or 3rd. Jodan Matthews, Steadman Bailey. I like Ryan swope as a 2nd or 3rd as a slot reciever, and a guy who should go in the 2nd or third really intrigues is Kenny Stills. As a late round pick I really like Marques Wilson, if he wasn't under 190 He'd probably be a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

at Safety my favorite all should be avail anywhere between the 3rd and 4th rounds, DJ Swearinger, who you had in your draft, is my top Safety for that area of the draft, Rambo would probably be my 2nd and the third would be Zeke Motta.

CB is abit tricky, most of the ones I like will be gone late 1st or early 2nd. But, I like Poyner (who will probably wind up in the first round), Trufant, who may sneak in to the first round, Logan Ryan and David Amerson, actually anyone in that group could go anywhere from the first 2 second round. the only CB who really impresses me that should go in the 2nd to third round is Bildi Wreh Wilson (Hope I got his name right).

Favorite targets for 3rd round RB are Stefan Taylor and Mike Gillislee, I also like Christine Michael.

DE/OLB outside of the top 10 draft picks which are pretty obvious. but for late first to upper 3rd I like the following guys (some of whom will definitely go late first), Alex Okafor, Corey Lemonier, Jackson Jeffcoat, Sean Porter (love him late 2nd early 3rd, but he may rise), Chase Thomas, shayne Skov, and I find Khaseem Greene (sp?) intriguing as well, former safety converted to OLB, I could actually see him being drafted and moved to strong Safety.

There is one DT that intrigues me as a mid to late round pick, but he probably won't declare this year. Mister Cobble From Kentucky, little ball of energy. Though I've not really seen much of his play in clips so this is almost all based off of scouting reports, but he really does intrigue me.

QB, honestly for me it's Bray or none pretty much, if your going to choose a developmental QB go for one that has a big upside, and as stated before I like my QB's a little flakey (Farve, Namath, Tarkenton, ETC.)

None of the Tight ends really appeal to me much this year, at least none that will be around after the first round or upper second. There is one I'd take a flyer on though simply because his injuries will drop him low in the draft most likely, and his name has been tossed around here ALOT and that's Lutzenkirchen..not very original I know, but in the 5th through 7th he'd be a very good value pick assuming he regains his health and stays healthy.
